Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Integrity matters extended

Why? No one participating? Where’s the employee crying for vsp vol extension? Speaks volumes to VSP, might be low numbers but look at the volunteers that opted to leave. Talent and leadership lost.

They know there is no time for knowledge transfer. I was told to just not work (poor s-b who took over for me). Sat around looking for work instead - took time off and found a great job after some downtime to recover from the Verizon toxicity, nonsense, crazy making - no point working really hard, doing your best - they just don't care at all. Use to be a good place to work; hasn't been for years.

Unconcerned about transferring any knowledge, expertise, or wisdom. Management is unconcerned about me, stock price is down nearly $21 a share since HV and RQ took over, and despite the “great quarter” stock price dropped further. All bloviating misdirection and no responses from leadership to questions and requests. Claims of “no flexibility” on departure dates are bogus. If VZ wants something, they will bend over backward to make it happen. If not, they are like a proverbial brick wall. And, it seems it is brick wall season. Don’t do more than necessary to keep your own sanity folks. VZ has already left you.

That kind of thing with not sharing used to be more of a problem. Now I have found it is more people who do work that no one wants to be involved in or hear about because it must be done but isn’t shiney/sparkly. People only want the big projects that they can put down big savings real or concocted.

The new way is to just drop it till it causes alot of problems and then ignore any documentation because either no one knows who used to do something or they just want to do the absolute minimum and get back to sparkles. “Right is the enemy of done.”

Knowledge transfer? How much of this “knowledge” was gatekeeping your experience from past teams, that you leveraged to get your current role, but now refuse to share? Living out your little fantasy that one day when you leave, the company would chase you out the door groveling, with offers to double your salary?

Pipe dreams. Retention is not a thing here. They won’t offer you a dollar. So don’t try to bluff. You clicked the button.

I have asked to stay until December...teams I support have sent a message to my senior leaders. If they refuse...I feel sorry for those with what I'm leaving to finish. I will login, and answer my phone, emails....etc until the end. But I'm not going out of my way by any means to ki-l myself for 4 weeks...

It is mind boggling that there will only be a month for transitions. I am having a hard time comprehending how we are going to get everything done and transitioned before leaving. I don’t want to leave my team in a lurch, but it seems inevitable.

Between Aug 14 and 1st round off is only 4 weeks to transfer 20+ years of knowledge off to someone staying. Sorry for the people staying, you will not get that knowledge and even more sorry for those who will be refused. Good luck, sit back, get your snacks and watch the show.
