Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

12 years at AT&T, over because my zip code doesn't match what the c-suite wants

I've been at AT&T for 12 years. I have been a TW for all 12 years. I received a retention bonus to stay at AT&T when they bought my previous employer. I have received multiple connections awards and always positive reviews, but I'm getting the can because I refused to move my family across the nation without a relocation package. Im realizing all the time I spent here is a waste, they don't care about individual employee, never have, never will.

Good luck to all that remain.

You can rent a P.O.Box in any area in the USA.
Then change your address to the P.O.Box..
I had P.O.Boxes for over 40 years because I felt receiving my mail at a P.O.Box was less likely to get lost than the added step of them delivering it from the Post office to the house.
Never a problem with the company having a P.O.Box as my home address...

Problem SOLVED, next........

Good luck in your next endeavor, leadership’s failures caused all the chaos, I’m sure you earned your awards and reviews. The sycophants love to attack anyone that actually earns their positions, bonuses, awards and raises.

“ …our board and Stankey will do whatever they to get the stock price moving the upward direction….”

Really? What have they been doing for the last 20 years then? Cause it ain’t working.

RTO is a management layoff. I retired with 22 years as a craft employee with an extra payout during covid. When I was surplussed as a DT and accepted a ST position within the allotted time frame to stay on payroll, my layoff call was from a manager while I was in my truck. The call took 2 minutes. Basically, get out. They could care less about you, most managers only think about their own job. They probably think your a loser., Go get another job in telecom or another field that’s hiring.

Any decision the company makes is about the bottom line. They have to save money belt cutting cost to reduce the debt. We are getting hammered by Verizon and t mobile in stock price. That’s all that matters. When the mutual funds with millions of T shares talk and complain, our board and Stankey will do whatever they to get the stock price moving the upward direction.

Company has become a total train wreck...such a shame that people no longer respect ATT anymore. Used to be in the day that people were impressed when you told them you worked for T, but now a days, it's just another company that treats its customers like cr@p!

Took 12 years to figure this out?

“Funny, I just spoke with a guy in access C&E today and his whole team was just moved BACK to virtual (TW). Went and checked Webphone and sure enough, all of them are virtual.”

Probably coming to the realization that they literally cannot replace some people without raising the salary of the position to poach talent from other companies, or will need to provide 6-12 months of training to anyone newer…
Even then, I hear a lot of these positions are difficult to fill because no one with the qualifications lives or wants to move to Dallas to fill them.

“Remember when you told people you were allowed to work remotely because you had special skills??? This is just the start of the “Great Teleworker Purge”. Buh bye!”

Kinda strange energy that people are happy about a horribly mismanaged company firing people at no fault of their own.

It’s on, I’m a developer in networking and told them I’m not moving without a package either, I got an extension but I’m sure I’ll be gone late this year or next.
Better employers out there than T, it’ll be fine.

You really can’t make up how stupid this whole thing is, but it’s AT&T so no one should be surprised.
