RIF after VSP, contact your lawyer

This is for those that rejected.
When the RIF happens and you are let go make sure to contact your lawyer regarding retaliation.
This is common practice from companies and yes they can, do, and will lose in court if you are able to prove this. Its not to hard to prove it in this case, so be prepared

You absolutely do not have a case. The rules were spelled out very clearly in the FAQ. You take the risk. There are ALWAYS RIFs. Retaliation?? C'mon. The corporate cog is not a petulant child. They'll get rid of you because they no longer need you, not because you revoked the VSP. And you won't be the only one. Believe me, the VZ lawyers are ready.

My apologies I meant to put "Revoke" instead of Rejected.

If you accepted at first then decided to revoke and end up getting riffed you absolutely have a case for retaliation

@op - now pretending to be a lawyer.....

it's all clearly noted in the FAQs about RIFFs during the VSP period.

Good luck with the lawyer - VZ has more money to burn to fight you on it.

OP means if you did not take the VSP and they still RIF you. That you may have a case for retaliation because you didn’t take the VSP.

No way anyone would know if they were rejected.

as well heard directive from execs given to AVPs and Managers - "no exceptions". Everyone off the books by September

if we are rejected, do you think we have a case now, even before a RIF?

If you volunteered for the VSP and are not accepted, you will get the VSP if you are part of a RIF, later. Only those that did not volunteer will get the standard severance package if they are part of a RIF. This is was in the Q & A of the VSP
