I'm in that org and don't think you're safe.
You could be but be ready
Better yet, start looking

I also imagine most TW are also technical, so if these metrics are real (probably not) I’d assume that’s why the times are so low if they’re only measuring Microsoft products as you can see even in office employees also only have ~2 hours.

Most of these jobs don’t involve you living in office.

If they monitor teams instead (which they probably do) I’d say they’re more likely to get accurate metrics (but still would likely be flawed, as a lot of time isn’t spent actively in teams if you’re actually working)

“can you write a mouse jiggler app for microsoft products? maybe a key sequence, GFY”

Yes, but that would be d-mb because any process running would be detectable, you’re better off with a hardware solution.

I also find it ironic that my post was downvoted for just saying I don’t use Microsoft products often.
What do you want? Me to code in Microsoft Word? I don’t get paid to write silly docs and use word, I use word to make resumes, that’s about it.
I use PowerPoint to make presentations.
I use outlook to check email.

But the only one I consistently use daily is outlook, we aren’t paid to live in Excel, our job is beyond that scope.

If I need to edit a csv I usually open it in a text editor and just edit it that way, the documentation we write is usually done in markup language, also done in a text editor.

This forum really shows that most uneducated people have no concept of office workflows for technical folk.

What part of “no one is safe” is hard to understand

“Office workers were on average active a little more than 2 hours per day. TW were active only 35 minutes per day.”
These metrics have been brought up before. RTO Karens on this board don’t like it when you actually use objective facts.

“All of the latest moves to eliminate virtual teleworkers comes from a project led by HR to monitor employee activity on company issued laptops. It was identified that a high percentage of TW had very little activity on Microsoft Office applications and the company intranet. Office workers were on average active a little more than 2 hours per day. TW were active only 35 minutes per day. The findings were very stunning. They grilled the officers who attested to their TW being top performers.”

I don’t use Microsoft Office products at all in my job, I’m a software developer and usually work in my terminal and IDE (interactive development environment) does that mean I appear to be unproductive?

Most days I only use outlook to check email, and once in awhile I’ll need to use PowerPoint to make slide decks, that’s really it for Microsoft products.

What about people using alternative products to Microsoft? There’s other tools out there for all of these things.

This is an id--tic metric and just shows management has no idea what they’re doing.

Based on who has been cut loose so far, it would appear that anyone who knows what they are doing, will be tapped.

Mass Markets TW here. We just lost several people in the June/July surplus. All TW Were kept on. The only people that were surplussed were in Atlanta and Dallas. It really depends on your leadership team and who they want to keep.

If you are a field technician in the out of region areas of the country, you are very safe. No layoffs in the Business field services organization because there is more work than the current head count can handle. We're good, safe for at least the next 3-5 years! Can't speak for non-union employees.
