I invested high six figures in AT&T stock. Maybe I’ll get rich soon. More layoffs better for the stock.

For recent L3 or even L4, I understood all promotions had to be approved by Stankey. Now several years later (if not sooner), he’s arrogantly decided he has too many L3s and 4s so appx 25% (depending on officer group) are being cut. I know the company has historically been too heavy at GM levels who also have a low span of control, but this is another example of poor executive management that got the company into this position. We’re losing good talent in a lot of areas of the business and continue to push away non-Dallas talent yet the ones who pulled the strings through over-promoting, bad M&A, and inability to inspire and execute a competitive growth strategy continue to take in their millions. Start the cuts with them. I hear there will be a number of “retirements” at VP and officer levels in 2025. At least it’s a start.

Your number is way too high. The only number that matters though is you. Give the money to the 65 year olds. They can get insurance.

I wish T would offer the technicians a severance way out of this company. There are way too many technicians that would really like to leave because T no longer wants to make their company vehicles safe. I would rather work for a company that doesn't have to deal with union nonsense!

Have not heard 40k but have heard they are looking to reduce 25% of L3 and L4 by EOY. This is on top of RTO surpluses.

45k is number i hear consistently.
However I cannot confirm when, but I thought it was by the end of 2024 so between now and then but I could be very wrong though about the timeline.

the only substance is that att will layoff every month. the quantity they get doesn't matter.

When a company has constructed a head-hunting team to pick people out of the crowd, then you know that company has committed long-term, to steady layoffs.

I've been hearing this as a L2 quite a bit. They took away a ton of private offers and promos for various channels, because it was costing the company too much. My boss said we're gonna see a ton of consolidation in the next two months followed by RIF. It won't be pretty. Techs will be safe tho!

I heard they were going to hire 30,000 so they could lay off 60,000.

I've heard 5-10% (varies by org, mostly L2-L3) which is a lot in its own right. 40k isn't feasible for 1 quarter.

Q4 will look dramatically different for a lot of organizations though that is certain.

No doubt the C suite would absolutely love to clip that many folks. However…as previously mentioned, that’s not a realistic number for one quarter.

There will be some layoffs, the company could not handle 40k layoffs logistically or overall disruption wise. I dare say that would also look very bad from the outside.

That number is absurdly high. There is no validity to this figure; however, the signs clearly point to some action, albeit at a much lower number.
