Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Leaving but reticent.

I’m a long timer who reluctantly pushed the button. Before doing so I wrote emails and placed calls to gauge responsibilities post VSP. Repeatedly I was told that a response was coming, yet never received. It feels strange to witness a faceless machine determining one’s fate based on unknown variables. My selection is assured given years of service, age, salary, etc. But again it’s odd to know that Verizon’s only goal is cost reductions regardless of one’s contributions to the business, or one’s experience that won’t be easy to replicate. If anyone needs a sanity check this is it. Many of us give our soul to help our customers and Verizon achieve their objectives, yet in the end that translates to being a faceless code on an Excel SS. Good luck to everyone.

Finally a post that I agree 100% with as well as all of the comments written well, no hate, etc. I was rif'd, off payroll 6/28. Good luck to all who leave, I didn't realize how bad it was truly getting until I was out and away from it. Onwards we go!

Its funny how they keep the illusion going so long for so many. I imagine a similar epiphany being made by someone long before webcrawler existed and long after we are all gone. Thinking they really care is a happy place and I really do miss it but it is just the sirens song.

Warren Buffet/Berkshire Hathaway bought about 150 million shares in the end of 2020 for $59 per share. 18 months later he sold at almost a 20% loss. They generally are long term investors, but they took a look around and saw the handwriting on the wall. They're not activist investors, and it seems the move didn't even cause our external directors to blink. When do you think our stock will see $59 again?

I am in agreement. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, you are just labor.

100% agree. Verizon is a dumpster view with now vision for the future. The execs are just working through to get a few more years, so that they can cash out. HV is the worst offender here. He does not care. What puzzles me is why the key stockholders and board allow this to continue. Their investment is at risk.
