Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

WHAT IF....

WHAT IF....

...you were an employee impacted by layoffs/surplus and you discover:

...you may actually have been intentionally targeted for the surplus/layoff

... someone in your leadership may have intentionally manipulated corporate systems, processes, and/or 3rd party platforms to directly/invisibly impact your Surplus scoring.

...leadership may have had full knowledge of unethical employee surplus targeting practices and may also be complicit in the fabrication, manipulation and concealment of key evidence during legal Government regulated investigations

...high level corporate Legal representatives may have falsified, manipulated, concealed key evidence of internal ethical violations, while also potentially refusing to produce said evidence upon request which may or may not support these hypothetical situations mentioned

...what if it's bigger than you

It must be something because they’d never get rid of a top performer.

The hyenas are after the wounded gazelles. Do your best to be the one stabbing your gazelle teammates in the back and you’ll be ok.

" The lesson here is try not to be the weakest on your team."

This person nailed it, and this is 100% still the case.

You wouldn't know it from many of the comments you see here from the many bitter folks that were caught up in it (strangely ALL of them were top performers on their teams somehow...)

If you're someone your Boss needs to follow up with frequently on BAU tasks you are supposed to do, if you're the guy never on the important call, and your Boss is asking the team "where's Joe..." all the time, well, actually, I doubt you're even still here.

But from what I have seen these are the folks that have largely been shown the door.

" Management are "at will" employees. They don't need a reason to get rid of you. they just need to say "your services are no longer required". Conspiracy theories not required."

100%. So many here would do well to just take a Business Law course at a local Community College.

Can fire you for any reason. And don't need to give you a reason at all. Don't even need to give you "your services are no longer required" or "needs of the business".

In fact, they "could" take it even further, and tell you they are firing you because you smell. Or that they don't like you. Or that you're ugly. Because none of those fall under any employment discrimination laws (age, race, gender, s-xual preference, religion, etc).

Ive held many roles both as IC and manager. I’ve been in impacted workgroups and I’ve been in safe calls. I’ve had a job relocated and didn’t choose to move (found another role). From everything I’ve seen the surpluses are generally based on performance and value to the company because those usually deciding are the L3s and L4s who want to keep their best people. Unless an entire org is shut down the only “targeting” being done is the weakest employees (and on some teams that doesn’t mean WEAK, it just means someone had to go and the weakest among a strong team is unfortunately often stronger than worse employees who are on weaker teams). The lesson here is try not to be the weakest on your team.

No way to prove & if T involved; T will support policy to avoid a precedent. It will be less expensive to crush you than support you. If you want severance, you agreed arbitration. If you object, you have to repay and wait until year end to get the tax money back.

If your dignity is important, pay the half million in lawyers fees to get rehired and get relocated with moving expenses to Indonesia or India.

There is no scoring. lol. People are chosen. It’s mostly handled by Directors and AVP’s unless their heads are on the chopping block. Our Director lies and tells people it was a surprise to her! It was the HR demons! But then told me she had to make the actual pick.
