Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are Teams phone calls recorded?

My boss and I had a heated conversation over Teams. She made comments alluding to my age and performance, I responded with angry responses. I am wondering if the conversations are actually recorded?

Teams calls are not recorded. Only the chats will remain for 15 days, then drop off.

We have a lot of conspiracy theorists on here spreading disinformation - no, you cannot be recorded without a disclosure - which only happens for regulated users. There are wiretapping laws that Wells Fargo would be in breach of if that wasn’t on.

They either can never be recorded or they must be recorded always (if you are a CIB Markets Trader). There is never a discretionary option allowed (at least within Teams). Written chat is recorded

Who cares. Just mentioning a fact is not age discrimination. You have to prove it. If boss said, you old geezers blah a blah blah big deal. Only if affected you negatively based on age and not performance. On the other hand if boss said you young dudes are blah blah blah and DID discriminate (say offered you crummier hours) there is nothing you can do. Age discrimination laws protect those over 40. Not under.

Every Teams calls are recorded on the server. You can’t access the recordings. You can file a complaint to federal agencies and by law they can request Wellsfargo to provide the recordings for investigation and legal purposes. Employment lawyers can make the same request.

Contact center calls are not routed through teams. Teams is not recording all calls.

They are most definitely recorded. Doesn't mean they are available to you though. It's more of a subpoena type situation for HR or legal.

Just like key strokes, mouse jigglers, etc.

They are all recorded, but only can be used against you. Not the other way around

Only some non reg employees have that functionality and you would receive an alert before it is turned on. So probably not.

Some state laws require that you have to get permission from the participants before you record the conversation. But at Wells Fargo, most of the calls are probably inter-state calls, so almost always you have to ask them for permission to record the conversation. If you record it without their permission, you are breaking the law and should be prosecuted.

Was anyone else on the call? If so, write down all their names so you can deposition them for your court case. Also, immediately transcribe,to the best of your knowledge, the conversation.

Get a lawyer.

If you aren’t a regulated user, nope. It’s a list of people who’s various types of calls are recorded.

I work for contact center and supervisor usually go back to listen to call if they feel something is not right. So I would say it’s 50% chance it is recorded. Now having access to that call might be hard
