Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco leadership was unable to create the next growth business for Cisco

It’s been years since customers considered Cisco relevant to their business strategy.

20+ years ago, when corporations needed to get connected to the Internet, Cisco had a seat at the table. Because Chambers and Robbins were unable to create the next growth business for Cisco, our sales people can’t get access to the C-Suite anymore.

Customers still need to buy routers and switches, but Cisco is no longer the 800 lb. gorilla because we never solved our complexity problem. When you think about the billions in R&D spending and acquisitions over those 20+ years and realize those dollars didn’t move the needle in our customers’ eyes, you really wonder what the Board and the senior executives have been doing besides resting on their laurels and collecting fat paychecks.

And this will do us in, @1keh+1tQaHaBc.

Mega mergers work. Look at compaq and hp. It’s not like Cisco bought scientific Atlanta and messed it up. Chuck will ensure that splunk sales people who crush their quota will be LR and replaced with new college grad DEI hires.

Simple. Can I have some more stock options now?

Listen to me now, but hear me later....Cisco will f*ck up the Splunk acquisition. They ruined Webex who owned the market prior to Cisco buying it.

I've worked with the folks at Splunk. They are super smart. Great culture. Lean mean machine. Operationally nimble. Cisco will f*ck it up because they'll treat it like every other acquisition. The acquisition team will not do anything new other than their cookie cutter process. Its sad.

There is market for network equipment, and they have tried other avenues - security, collab etc - just not done it well. I’ve not seen a truly integrated product - like when Cisco owned nds and made set top boxes - why not an integrated set top box and WiFi device ?
