If the situation is so dire why are the separation packages fairly decent? Why let people voluntarily choose to leave instead of hand picking the low performers? Cutting low cost comfort benefits like free fruit and drinks. They want lots of people to leave regardless of how much they know or do. Private equity is already in the mix (Brookstone and Apollo have over $30B in the game already). The biggest share holders are Vangard, Blackrock, and State Street. Is the value being intentionally driven into the ground so that the company can be purchased for pennies on the dollar and then brought back in a few years with a handful of private owners. When, not if, China takes Taiwan the value of this company will go through the roof regardless of the process technology available. Just a thought...

Back street mafia corp tactics and alignment with big pension fund groupos !
You just got type G reorg'd ! Pension funds sold massive shares and funded this big brain drain talent payoff layoff ! and yes this is your own NASDAQ 401k mutual funds that sold you off and kicked you to the curb !
The severance packages are spots on the lifeboats for the rich while the rest of us are destined to go down with the ship.
People talk about China invading Taiwan like it's the rapture. Come all ye faithful may your prayers be answered.
Someone would say why the packages are not more generous. But you @OP went the other route. Good for you
Intel will take a loan to pay them from banks. Thats how this work. Intel has no money to pay them outright dum-dum
If Pat prayed for customers and Jesus is real, then what in tarnation is going on?
This whole clown meme about China invading Taiwan is ridiculous.
Customers will simply move to Samsung.
Samsung is #2 already.
Why would they go to Intel?
Intel has not demonstrated any competence in foundry at all.
Yes!!! Exactly! If we have so much money for these voluntary and involuntary severance packages then how the he-l are we broke?
Are you really this dense?
Layoff package SAVE money for Intel in the long run. The ‘package’ is a one time cost. Paying an employee is a recurring cost that needs to be paid every year forever.
Jesus Christ - no wonder Intel is in the toilet. The level of thinking of the common poster here is shockingly bad.
When, not if, China takes Taiwan the value of this company will go through the roof regardless of the process technology available.
Is that you Pat?
China isn’t going to save Intel.
Customers will shift to Samsung if that happens.
Yes!!! Exactly! If we have so much money for these voluntary and involuntary severance packages then how the he-l are we broke? How are paying for these? Loans??
There is a simple answer.
Intel is just incompetent. They sc--wed up products and have no customers for IFS. Why would they handle layoffs correctly?
Vangard, Blackrock, and State Street allocate funds to the S&P500 indexing. They don’t care about Intel at all. It’s just an algorithm matching the index.
Intel is just terrible at capital allocation.
