VSP - Retire or Another Job?

Curious how many VSP takers look at this as just leaving Verizon to definitely work again somewhere else, or as pure retirement. I see it as separating from VZ and plan to use the year to see what else is out there even though I'm at early retirement age.

I finally get to get my mental health and be with family. I wasn’t leaving this company after over 15years without What’s happening now or a regular riff. I have gone through too much to not get paid to leave lol.

Not near retirement age but have been with Verizon for 15+ years. I will be looking for another job but I seriously need a break. Have kind of let my health go and am seriously burnt out.

I have less than 3 years with the company - I’ll be looking for something new
It’s just not worth it with a very manipulative manager and ungrateful team members

62, had a side hustle years ago, may do it full time. In great shape, I go to the gym almost daily, will see in a year or so. For now, I am retiring. I was asked about teaching as well.

21 years of 24/7 VZW work will be an adjustment. I'm at retirement age and like others more concerned with how to occupy my day than anything else. I'm not sure what I will do next but hope that an ex customer offers a part time gig.

I know states oike TN where I live - there is no state taxes at all. That saves quite a bit with just that.

Will be relocating early next year. Less pay but less stress and slower pace. Evens out in the end. Whatever your plans hold.. good luck. Best of all we’re outta here.

I am unaware of any of your finances. But if you live in New York and are willing to move. There are states out there that are run much better that do not tax your retirement income or your Social Security income. The same states have very little property tax in my research, by leaving New York State when I retire, I could save between $22,000 And 35,000 In taxes and cost-of-living expenses, depending on which state and you moved to.This is one of the reasons I will be able to retire at age 51 because I will be moving to a state that will not tax me to death.

I am close to Retirement. But would like to work a few more years. But the advantage is to work with much less stress. To me thats the key. Life is much better than an above average paycheck. Fotunately I am not one to live above my means ( this helps as lot ). Just paid off all my bills and credit cards. Looking for a more less stressfull environment for a few more years. Also If you happen to be willing to relocate your options are awesome on a new career for a while that is much less stressful.

I’m probably going to do something part time or seasonal but it won’t pay well and I won’t stress about it. Wonder if there is some part time government program I could work for thst dows some good but can’t find people for lack of pay.

The most important thing I gotta figure out is what to do without work to do. Unfortunately it has been nothing but VZ for a long time so it’ll be an adjustment period. My boss asks me what I’m going to do and I really don’t know since I haven’t done anything for over a decade except work and get behind in basic home maintenance.

Although its gonna be a little bit of struggle for a year or so....I'm going to work doing something, certainly not making the same pay...but a job that has a purpose...and I enjoy without the stress. I'm at that point where the stress and the BS management platform has just gone to a point, where I cannot tolerate.

I’m close to retirement. However, June 5th I worked on my resume, then interviewed and finally secured a new position just prior to the revoke period. I will be in the high tech industry. I start my new position Sept 16th.

I'll find something else. I'll try IT, but might find something where I can work outside.

I am in the same situation as you. Early retirement. I will take some time off then probably do something else. Ideally work part time or a job that is way less stressful and when the day is done it is done.
