Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Wfh/fyd gone as of today

Our manager held a team meeting today on zoom ironically and one of the topics was the flex your day program.
Essentially, no wfh unless there is documented approval from her via email and that it should be on a rare case basis.
She essentially said her LT was tired of seeing the list of names on the reports/dashboard which is visible above them.

So there it is, it may not apply to all groups but the sc--ws are definitely being tightened.

If you work from home then your job can be done in India for probably a tenth of the money. I hope XOM outsources every job that is WFH.

This is bs. I’m WFH 2-3 days a week on average and no complaints. I can’t stand the boomers who want all back in the office because they are. I am so much more productive when WFH. If I am told that I can’t WFH, I’ll just ignore it. If I can’t WFH, I’ll quit and let them hire a boomer. Good luck with that.

There is a huge push for back to office because the relistate is hurting so bad and they don't want us comfortable. Peons can't be comfortable

FYD was a crock yo begin with. Only favored people got to flex their day, week, month or year.
Now there are contractors who can be remote pr 4/10’s - but not employees.

@loy So you’re calling every F10+ executive a snowflake? Because there isn’t a single one who isn’t working from home or some other remote location surrounded by opulence.

What the average person doesn’t realize is that WFH has always been reserved as an executive perk. It was extended to the “commoners” during Covid because it was the only way they could run their businesses at a profit. Once vaccines became widely available they started clawing it back, for no good reason except to control you, and maybe to maintain some local tax subsidies tied to building occupancy.

If you don’t want to deal with this BS, leave O&G. There’s just way too many guys having mid-life crises working in management.

Seems to vary. I know people in groups that must have a documented emergency to work from home but in my group there are people that I have never met in person on campus.

I my position there is no wfm. We have been out because of the bad weather and covid. A total of 18 days in the past 5 years. Once I wanted to wfm to watch my kids so the supervisor said you cant wfm and watch your kids. Most of the work is meetings and forms so I don't see why they want us in the office. Most of the meetings we just listen to the hipos talk and decide things. They like us to sit there and want an audience. I think it is a control thing with the management. They want us to bend to their will. They also want us to turn on our video so they can see our faces. I can't turn mine on because of the expressions in make during the meetings. I can't keep a straight face due to all the BS. When you come back they want you to adhere to core hours but not the special people they can come and go as they please. One person has special arrangement and only works 6 and a half or 7 hours a day. This special person has done this for the last 6 years. This special person was told to work from home to take care of their child unlike myself. Several people have complained about this unfairness but the supervisor just keeps protecting them.

@aaz+1tVBufEF As it's well known everybody, absolutely everybody with any brains lies in the survey. We all know very well that it ain't anonymous and if you say anything that contradicts what Darren wants to hear you'll be piped on the spot. So, everybody clicked on the "this is an absolutely dream company and I'm perfectly aligned with Darren's tantrums" just to keep milking this dead cow for another year.

Typical example of the deafness in supervision and above. I thought the WAEM survey responses were unanimously positive, so how could anyone be unhappy with being told wfh/fyd stops with immediate effect?

It's almost like the survey results bear no resemblance to the workforce reality.

I agree with your manager, the expectation is to be in the office. If pipd snowflakes can’t take that, time to go elsewhere

They just want us all to race so they don’t have to pay us off. The beatings will continue until morale improves or until HC10 are gone

Wait a minute we were told the dashboard was for your immediate supervisor/manager and they trust the employee and their management to make the right choices..so if LT is getting involved then it’s all been lies
