Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is this an EEOC violation?

Everyone selected for surplus in the business unit is over 40 years old. Business unit is about 30 people. Ten people under the age of 40 were not selected.

Att tells you to be a top performer and rewards it, then lays you off. So, quit being a top performer. Proof that working smart at Att - get full credit for least amount of thought and effort possible, is the name of the game. Steal ideas like crazy. Immorality under the radar.

How come everyone laid off is a top performer? Seems to be some type of self delusion going on. By definition not everyone can be top. And if they were, it’d be the new average.

I have seen two friends in the past who were top performers then out of the blue their performance dropped for no rhyme nor reason and they were out the door within a year. I saw this happen twice and when my one friend tried to discuss the performance shift for no reason after delivering; their Manager had no explanation and was very dismissive.

Employees need to start looking into Constructive Dismissal.

Definitely. Angela Santone is gone, but she orchestrated a plan to identify all employees eligible for pension and MR75 benefits, tried to get them to quit by removing the benefits, cutting pension value rates, hub relocations and then finally layoffs. The orders came from Stankey who became impatient and then finally removed her and replaced with Lori Lee who kicked off the layoffs portion. Total agism. But what are you boomers gonna do? Sue? You’ll be dead before the company forks over one nickel. Stankey knows this.

I’ve kept all my performance evaluations for 20+ years and I have 2 ADEA listings showing the age of those laid off compared to those saved. It’s insightful to say the least. I will be saving it all.

As an employee, you all should be retaining your employee ratings offsite from ATT, because if it came down to an investigation or lawsuit, you would need to provide them to prove that it wasn't performance related.
