Using Vacation up to VSP date

Is it OK to use Vaction time up till the 9/13 date? (Assuming one has enough and doesn’t care about the payout for it)
I didn’t see anything specifically addressing this in the 401 page document about VSP71

Make sure to use up all personal time and sick time - you will NOT be paid out for this time that you've earned. Unused vacation time will be paid to you. I'm close to being max'ed out and it'll be another $1k7 when I get my nice fat VSP check...

Can you? I think so, but we were in a meeting with HR and I brought up this exact situation. She said "only if it was asked for and approved" ... so if you WANT to take your vacation, make sure you follow protocol by going to your time page and requesting that time off. But true, use your personal time first.

Unused accrued Personal time does get paid If you work in the state of CA, IL, MA, NE and ND. It’s a state law.

I used just enough of my vacation to accrue for the next pay period. When I was severed in 2019 they had to payout all my unused vacation. Well worth saving and strategically planning my vacation days to get paid for over 8 weeks of vacation.

moh+1tYTQsp, if it is like the last one you won’t get locked out. My last day was Dec 31 and 2 people in my group were on vacation the week between Christmas and New Years. I covered for them. This is on a volunteer basis so there should be no disgruntled employees. A RIF may be a different story.

We only have 22(?) days plus a holiday left. I’m using time so I don’t lose my August accrual and I see I could take every day off and still get paid out for over a month.

Vacation guidelines do say something like supervisor must approve time so give plenty of advanced notice. Sure I’ve never had an issue saying I’m heading out early today or taking Friday off if I don’t have deadlines but saying hey I’m off for a month and never returning g’luck might not get the ok.

I am a little concerned I might get locked out of everything on Wednesday. I made some promises to some folks I know that I’d finish up some stuff and VZ making me break those promises to the last of my work friends wouldn’t be great. .

It's yours to do with as you like, given department rules. Use personal days first. I don't care about September accrual. I will join you if I get a positive response and a 9/13 blastoff date.

If you have a separation date of 9/13, you won’t earn vacation for September.

Make sure you use your personal time as that does not get paid out but vacation time does. If your release date is September 13 you will not accrue time in September.

is it better to use it or get paid out? I have 1 or 2 days accruing after the September 13th day
