Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Does Cisco follow "the last one in, the first one out" rule?

I've joined six months ago. I'm thinking I might be sc--wed if that's the case.

older and/or more experienced people the first to go. can't be paying them to keep the company afloat.

per above. If they ask everyone to take PTO it is so they don't have to pay out when you're LR'd. Saves Cisco a lot of $$. Hence, it means they are going to LR people soon after the request.

No. I have been with Cisco through several layoffs now. All experience areas are affected. At least that was the case in my country in Europe.

oh how I wish they would, as someone who approaches 2 decades here :)
Unfortunately that's not the case... At least outside Europe

Companies are not loyal to their employees. In times of layoff, they are just trying to get to a number. Doesn't matter how valuable you are or have been; if you fit the financial model for LR, adios... And knowing this, you should always keep your network and resume up-to-date. Job security is never certain, prepare accordingly.

nope, you can sue them
you can't be blamed for their lack of planning
they bought Splunk more than 6 months ago and they knew what was coming
The first "public" sign that they knew was the mandatory midsummer shut down.
There was also pressure in each quarter to take vacation (a certain number of days), started around the same date

You should always prepare to be let go - especially at Cisco. So yes, adopt the mindset that you are going to be notified on Wednesday and prepare accordingly.
