Can hiring mgrs and recruiters see prior performance reviews?

My manager always includes dings in my otherwise good performance reviews. I'm interviewing for new role and wondering if hiring mgr and recruiter can see my performance review details (not just the Meets ratings). Does anyone know?

Can they only see the most current rating or historical ratings?

My understanding is that hiring managers cannot see your performance evaluation history during the interviewing process. But once you are hired, they can see your previous performance history.

“ I work for a manager, and no, they cannot see previous ratings or reviews. Recruiters, though, not sure.” incorrect. Just changed so that mgrs and recruiters can see your rating. This is 100% confirmed by HR. Not sure about text in reviews tho but training in this is coming up.

As for salaries, yes recruiters can see salary for sure and they share that info with mgr.

Yes, they can now be seen.

I see this as a good thing. I’m tired of seeing trash employees moving around between departments.

Rather than doing the right thing and finding a new external job, they bring the burden onto a new team. I’ve seen it happen over and over.

There is nothing stopping one manager to talk informally to another about your performance. The manager can also ask if he or she would retire or recommend you off the record. There is no way to prove it.

It was always the case they could request to see and also request to speak with previous manager. Sometimes they do, most often they do not.

Past reviews should not matter at all, outside of being involved in something bad HR had to deal with.

We all know the perf review system itself deeply flawed. Managers go through the motions to push the reviews through as it is viewed as a required chore not a tool. Reviews are filled with mindless templated content that hardly captures the true substance and potential of any one individual's employment.

Never had a previous review pulled up to measure improvement, as the previous reviews are no longer the new way reviews are being held. An endless cycle of paperwork in, paperwork out. Nothing more.

To obtain any job what should matter most is whether you interview well or not. Aside from showing nervousness during the interview process, everything else brought about is you as it stands today. That is what matters.

This goes for money too. Any restrictions on pay should be lifted. Your prior position should never influence what the future can bring.

This isn't happening, I know. But still, we should be looking at a person for what they can bring and what they want now, not what they were or in the context/bias of current/past jobs.

I think it just changed. Mgrs can see prior reviews.

Recruiters can see, I believe, absolutely everything about a HR employee. Pay, merit increases, all ratings, 1:1 coaching conversations….I don’t know what we can’t see.

I believe they can see your rating(s), but not the actual verbiage.
