Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Who are the good leaders here?

I’m asking because I’d like to find a team here that has good leadership where I can move. After two decades here and reflecting on my experiences, it’s abundantly clear that leadership is the most important factor in my satisfaction, engagement and quality of work.

In scanning the horizon from where I sit (CSBB), I don’t see a single leader I actively want to work for. This is a first for me. So tell me, fellow thelayoff aficionados…who do you see that possesses what the Harvard Business Review seems as the “8 Essential qualities of successful leaders”? I see many of these essentials as weak or completely lacking in most leaders I see. I’m most interested in number 8. Any empathetic leaders out there?

Evidently lying is considered a great leadership skill in Commercial Banking. They are tops in that category.

I love my manager and their 2 up leader who is oc+2. They leave WF and I’m following them. (I’ve already told them as much)

A Co worker had moved on thier own accord to a large hub from a small hub area that was destined to be closed, she was quite the dedicated team player and mgmt favorite. 6 months after her move that cost her quite a bit,she was voluntold to a worthless position not even located at the hub. 4 months later , laid off.... these azzwipes only see numbers not people.... do not disrupt your life with unneeded hoop jumping in thier dog n pony show.... it's all going offshore eventually SMH

Consumer Digital. It's mostly non bank types just getting things done. You can't fluff your way in or hide once you're there, so it buffers against bad managers.

#8 Empathy- only see attempts through sociopath masking. It is obvious and disgusting to watch.. I think empathy is strongly discouraged behavior.

  • "Delegating" then getting credit
  • Pushing underlings

I am done with the c-suite lackeys who were Nepo-hired in.

Most of the good ones have left already. There a few shinning stars from Chase that are overshadowed by the old Wells Fargo roaches who have managed to survive.

No good leaders or managers. They are more concerned about themselves.The few they had, left.
This is my second go with Wells. Today I am treating them how they treat me. Tomorrow is layoff Tuesday. Apparently the largest one. Why work?!?

To be employed at WF and also shine in any role requires too great a sacrifice. The only exception is to treat WF as a place for a hop/gap/filler/throw-away job.

We witness the good ones get stressed out (not the healthy kind), become shells of themselves, quitting in disgust or becoming puppets and serving as an echo chamber of the nonsense of leadership.

To be great at WF is to be burdened by the inability to speak freely in a fear-based culture, throw up hands regularly in process he-l, deal with uncooperative partner teams and manage employees who are rightfully feeling down, unmotivated, unsure about their purpose or job security.

Wells Fargo, through and through, is not a place to seek out career excellence. It is a junk shop investing heavily in off-brand duct tape in order to keep things operating as cheaply as possible.

Top down they are being replaced. There are some managers, at the Director level, that have been/would be great. There are also a lot of P4-P5 folks that can’t get promoted into the roles that would be fantastic managers. They have been clipped under the JPMC crew.

I've noticed even though a Leader can have great qualities, if you work for someone 1 or 2 down from them, usually 2 down, those "managers" could end up being snakes. No guarantees.
