Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Offshoring access to central office transport equipment.

Is it legal for them to giveaccess to transport equipment to India?
I thought that was a national security item. Currently laying off telemetry techs after just training new hires in Bangalore India.

No security issues? Suuurrre, let’s believe that one. So if the country were to go to war and overseas has access to the network, how hard would it be to hose it up? With a few commands and changing passwords what do you think the result will be? You thought the recent outages were bad.

Some people are so naive, once again it’s all about the $$$

There are no security issues with offshoring. All part of the plan to reduce headcount and cost to business. Small price to pay to help the bottom line.

It’s like giving the password to the electrical grid to China. Not a good idea!

Advise the FCC. They’re already all the way up our ar-e . I’m sure they’d love to hear how our leadership has handed over the nations communications infrastructure to Non US citizens.

Tech support has gone from a phone call to a center with holds times in excess of 30 minutes, to smartchat with "NO SME AVAILBLE" . Now we are asked to use email for 5ESS support.
I don't care anymore.. I used to, I don't anymore.

Techs or managers because in the SE there isn’t a surplus this quarter? Doesn’t matter as far as the legality but curious what group was targeted, VP name?

You would think so, you could always ask your senator or congressman. I’m not comfortable with people overseas having my personal information or access to the company network. I would think it’s easier to hack into govt. agencies by giving them access. It’s all about the $$.
