6 months removed from LR after 7 years at Cisco in SBG. I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY. I’m also so much healthier. My wife told her friend the other day that she felt like she finally had the real me back after all the years or stress and pressure at Cisco. I love my new job (4 months in) and I’m surprised every time I do something and it’s received without urgency, pressure, negativity but instead with encouragement and empowerment. I knew it was toxic while I was there but had no idea how toxic. Now I’m happy, and used my severance to buy vacation property. I win.

OP: When did you get your severance letter? Expecting one soon is why I ask..........

Not minding if they LR me anyways. Cisco has missed too many mega transitions with a used car salesman and his sycophantic sidekicks at the top.

There are no ifs and buts. You take what is given, no other choice or asks. This is non-negotiable, you’re on your way out… accept it.

What does the severance package look like? heard that in China the package is N+7 months actual salary. But in the US it is calculated on a weekly basis, why?

Good luck. Enjoy being an expert in a few products rather than the impossible task of understanding about ten million products that change every quarter.

I doubt that working for another employer is less challenging in this respect. Having to go back and learn all that, Cloud, Load balancers, Firewalls, R&S, DC devices, different vendors it will require you to spend as much time as learning our product lines and their f...ing various configs and licensing modes , compatibilities and incompatibilities because the clients expect you to know these off the top of your head

I was literally neurotic at my long term at Cisco. Not a work politician by nature, but definitely morphed into those necessary work traits; to survive long term. Now a good few years post LR, and feel like a completely different (and much healthier) person. It was worth staying long term, to raise our family; but glad for the change.

I was part of the Feb/April LR. Not quite 90 days but for me it was first numb (not worried, I was financially prepared), then unexpectedly mad at the blatant age discrimination, but now I think I'm getting more in line with the rest of this board and feel like a poison has been flushed from my life and I'll be much healthier going forward without Cisco.

Why October?

People that are being LR’d will be notified in August with an exit date in October. There is a high probability that I will be one of them.
