Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Displaced

I'm currently puzzled by the fact that the non core location people managed to survive in my group despite the initial talk of them being the first to be let go. It's quite shocking and disturbing to see how things turned out so differently than they told us.

My two top employees were displaced in a hub location. I wasn’t even told in advance. It’s not performance based, they might say it is. It is not! That is a flat out lie.

I’ve always had my doubts since all of the sh!t started as they clearly do not understand the meaning of ‘transparency’ or honesty for that matter. I don’t believe anything they tell us anymore. It’s all lies to fit the moment.

In spite of their lies on town halls, 'many years of service' is a bad thing according to HY. Those are definitely the people they want to get rid of. If for no other reason, we know what it was like working here before these S stains from JPM showed up.

Anyone above mid-level making 150k is doing something wrong, even in LCOL areas. I know individual contributors making upwards of 300k.

For the comments about folks moving, I know several people who have moved to Charlotte for location strategy. I won't do it, but some have. The only reason I'd move is for some promotion for a lot more money.

The OP specifically said it wasn’t the ones who were in non core locations. Obviously it was based on something else, which they didn’t specify. Therefore, I suggested it was performance based.

@odu+1tfWtWvT performance has NOTHING to do with it. I know -multiple- people with many years of service who were absolute top performers (and everyone knew they were) that were let go due to the location BS. These decisions are being made by the HY id--ts from a 50k foot level. NO one is safe from the lunacy.

my manager reached out to me with concerns about another RTO crack down - i dont live in a core location. I will be joyous either way. If any of you lacks peace about this, I can only encourage seeking Jesus for true peace. It does su-k to get displaced, but im kind of just looking forward to it

Exactly... Before i got laid off, one of my coworkers in Iowa asked if i was going to move to Iowa to keep working for Wells (i live in Oregon). I just had to laugh. Like, am i going to uproot my entire life and sell my house to move to Iowa just to keep my little mid-level job and potentially still get laid off? Bro. No.

I think this only makes sense for people above mid-level (like making $150k+) who aren't just a middle manager, truly love their jobs, and are doing something that's unlikely to be replaced by AI (and even then, it seems a little risky).

core vs non core is only in regards to location strategy layoffs and are separated from the right sizing/in the name of efficiency layoffs they are doing.

Sounds to me like the OP was let go because they weren’t a good employee. OP what was rating last year? Did you go into the office 3 days a week? Were you consistently late with your deliverables?

Can’t imagine people who move to hubs just for the job security because there isn’t any. If it can be outsourced you’ll be gone too.

That means ur entire team death date is already written. Non core people are not safe either. They may have state labor law obligations for Wellsfargo to satisfy. Folks, everyone here whose job can be outsourced will have date in future till 2027. They get u someday. Be prepared

I know a person with nearly 20 years in a core location (and their manager) who was displaced on Tuesday. Looks like core location is not a ticket to keep your job. Can I get on the list please?
