Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I miss Verizon Wireless

I miss working for Verizon Wireless. I miss the 150% - 200% bonus payouts. I miss the leadership, but above all, I miss the feeling of pride I had working for wireless. I loved the company. Maybe it was because new cell phones were still a hot ticket item that everyone wanted. Maybe it was so successful because the market wasn't saturated. Maybe it was because it wasn't fully owned by a Verizon. It was a different work environment, and it felt energizing. I am still grateful to have a good job with Verizon, but I really miss the positve feelings that I had working for wireless. This isn't to bash Verizon now, just feeling nostalgic for the good old days.

Too many shysters in those stores who got the 150% - 200% bonus payouts by deviousness and fraud. The hoodwinked customers didn't forget. Your greed and dishonesty damaged us.

I know what you mean OP, I was in wireless for 18 years. When mixing with the wireline people, seemed to take a downturn with the attitudes.

Funny, though, everytime I've had a tech in our house, I would let them know I was with wireless and we all got along great after some good-natured ribbing.

Verizon Wireless was a great company to work for and the indisputable industry leader in Network reliability for years. That ebbed away when VZ started to shuffle over its grossly incompetent and clueless leaders from the failing VZ wireline. Now VZ 2.0 is just one big failing entity led by an incompetent Swedish guy who should be in prison for his last gig. And sure the once vaunted Big Red Wireless Network is now a shadow of itself after all the frivilous non-network spending and decisions of VZ landline leads...AOL, Yahoo, Go90, Bluejeans, rollout of 5GUW before Nationwide, to name just a few of the highlights...RIP VZW.

Wireless was a great company. It was then consumed by the big V with all its politics, bad leadership, and legacy work work practices. The rest beyond that was all very predictable.

Verizon wireless has the worst service amongst the big three. Dropped calls, horrible audio quality. I have a network extender which shows full bars on my iPhone and I still drop calls or people tell me I’m breaking up. I only keep the service because I work for the company (wireline) and have the free phone and service. Switched my wife and kids over to T Mobile and their service is much improved.

There was a time of extremem growth where wireless companies were just raking in the cash. Remember text messages being huge profit? This isn’t the old days.

The bloated union terd Verizon ruins everything it touches. Wireless is no different.

If you miss it so much maybe you should post it on the Verizon Wireless board instead of Verizon Communications board.

There are MANY groups engineering solutions that are even better than what you remember. If you haven't found them by now that is your own fault. We don't get those bonuses but the pay has kept up with the times. Again if you haven't found out how to do this, that is your own fault. Nobody on my team or anyone we work with are taking VSP. We are very happy to do what we do for our Customers.
