Contractor here. Resigned a hostile environment at WF. Gave a 2 week notice. Manager at WF termed me the same day to make it look like it was her decision & walked me out. I think it was retaliatory for resigning. Now she's bad mouthing me on some made up justification everywhere I work at the bank. Would you report them?

@4fbu+1tfsYOFk, whether the worker is a direct employee or a contractor, it doesn't matter. If a manager harasses any workers in a criminal way, every worker has the right to report the manager. Every contract agreement also includes such clause, and if the employer harasses the contractors, the employer is legally liable.
Sorry but you have zero rights as a contractor.
I usually recommend against working at Wells Fargo.
I contracted for WF 15+ years ago and had a horrible manager. He regularly was verbally abusive. I complained to the consulting firm that placed me and all they did was remove me off the contract. They won't bite the hand that feeds them. I don't think you will find a good solution.
Yes, I would report this manager and end her career.
isn't it something how every post that's telling the OP to move on is getting downvoted, and all the righteous indignation and handwringing is getting upvoted.
Everyone - OP is a contractor. There is certain stuff that comes with that - and IF OP is really a contractor and not just a troll - they know it. You come and go as you please... and don't have to give notice at all, and the company (any company) doesn't owe you anything either.
You have no basis on which to "report" the person you are describing.
Get on with your life.
If it is a normal company, I might suggest a different alternative. But knowing how Wells Fargo management operates, I strongly recommend OP to fight back and destroy the corrupt WF management altogether. Report it to multiple regulatory agencies, and even contact the news media. Destroy Wells Fargo.
Contractors really dont control the amount of notice they get or give. Being walked out is normal if you were immediately terminated.
Dont let this get inside your head. You were ready to move on. Move on, and dont look back (you could turn into salt....)
Two week notice seems antiquated at this point - companies don’t seem to respect it or care anymore..
I’m not defending the manager, but it’s worth understanding what the environment was actually like. A ‘hostile work environment’ is often incorrectly used by the average person to describe personality challenges or general disagreement in the workplace. If you experienced unwelcome behavior based on protected class status, you should file a claim with the EEOC.
Separately, depending on your state and position sensitivity, it is VERY normal to accept a resignation immediately.
Good luck.
You're a contractor. I do advise you talk to YOUR manager. That's the person who assigns you to work on contracts from your contracting company. If you're confused, look at your paystub. That's YOUR employer, not WF. WF is your client.
Ask YOUR manager what the contract says about clients terminating contractors. I'm sure you're quickly expendable. You signed up for that.
How long were you going b this role
Before you gave notice?? Many a times positions gets filled by candidates who don’t have the required skills and candidate have a very different expectation of the job.
I told HR that a woman threw a chair at me during a project meeting and then I got laid off! I told them that I felt I was on safe but got way off two weeks later.
Unless you are going to try and find a job at WF again, let it go, its not worth the time and stress. When you interview at new company and they call WF, all they get are canned responses. Person worked at WF for x amount of time, etc.
Lesson: Don't give your hard won energy & experience to WF.
Some posters here are aggressively defending this unethical manager. I wonder why?
These managers here think they can do whatever they want. That's why I tell all my friends not to come & work here. It's a hornet's nest.
OP,
Do you live in the same city? Lot's of options if you do.
Specialty markets are designed by the business for 1) specialized skill sets in area for jobs 2) targeted customer base.
OP—you’ve vented to this audience and no doubt your friends and family. There’s so many bad mgrs at WF!!!
Let it go!
Another reminder that we live in a corporate he-l.
The best way to handle this type of situation is to report this to the federal regulators (ethics committees). Do not report to WF internal departments, they will just ignore you.
Yes, you should definitely report. Do not listen to others' useless advices.
You have the right to report to the EEOC Agency or have your contracting firm file a harassment complaint about this person. That will get their attention!
You say you are a contractor. You have no rights or recourse in this regard as far as WF is concerned.
Move on and get on with your life.
@mry+1tfsYOFk is correct. There is nothing to report that HR will give a rat’s a-s about. Best to concentrate on your next phase.
That said - nothing wrong with following her LinkedIn profile so you can gloat when the karma bus runs her down. Because it will.
Call Ethics, you have nothing to lose.
Very typical to be walked out these days if you resign. The bad mouthing though is unprofessional.
@mry+1tfsYOFk. It's gone on for years. Literally. Think she has an axe to grind or has some kind of weird desire to control me and how people see me. Could be jealousy.
Best response to this is to move on, be successful. That person can go f themselves after that. But if you dwell on it, get worried, you will just be wasting your limited focus/energy. You might think it's a big deal and This is a fast paced place, people won't even remember in 2 weeks.
