Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How do you even get motivated anymore?

How do you get yourself to do your job to the best of your abilities? All I'm doing is waiting to hear about being laid off, and that's ki-ling my motivation. Why even bother if it's only a matter of time before it's my turn? I honestly am having trouble finding a reason to care.

Oh and sometimes I throw darts at a picture of Stankey, that ALWAYS makes me feel better.

I like money, but I’m not complying with RTO, just badging staying for a bit leaving.
I know someone is gonna come on here and meme, but I’m doing lead development on multiple projects that combined save the company tens of millions, so I mostly get left alone and I LOVE my work (not for T just my profession) so just the passion for what I do keeps me going, but I hate the company.

If I get laid off or fired, I’ll get a job elsewhere. My skills are marketable, and I’m only still here because I don’t want to move from a LCOL area and T pays well enough.

I’m just chillin’ I complain a lot, I think the company is garbage, management is awful, they shouldn’t promote so many non-technical people to management roles, etc etc I have a lot of issues but it is what it is. I have money saved, and when my time comes to leave I’ll leave.

If you’re truly unhappy at AT&T, just leave already. Nothing stopping you. Just don’t forget to visit this board after and let everyone know how awesome being unemployed is while you’re looking for another job.

My motivation is simple. I continue to grow my skillset and meet my commitments here at T so I can provide for my family. The company’s obligations are to provide me with benefits and pay and they do.

Am I thrilled with the layoffs and RTO/RTE cr-p, no. Nobody is, but what are you goi g to do….

We were actually told not to stand out one way or the other during our midyear. Don't be at the top of the list or the bottom for any metric. If you stand out too high, I guess they think you are cheating or not living your job accommodation hours or not effectively multitasking everything they think you should be doing. Too low and they think you are just goofing off.

That's a great formula to use to strive for mediocrity.

The morning before I walk in, I drink a gallon of colon cleanser. I play musical chairs on Fridays. Each chair gets its signature skid mark, enough to transfer to your work paints.

That motivates me

I automated my job 3 years ago. Now, I use a physical mouse mover (don’t get the software version) to “live my designation” while I work my second job at Lumen in the Akard thunderdome. It’s easy when both jobs are business sales ops reporting. Plus, my boss is hiring someone to help me. I’ll show him something I’ve automated and let him do it manually for 40 hours per week. Love this place.

If you feel that way, its time to find a new job. I found one and I'm thrilled about it!

“I am not motivated because the company ignores your achievements and cuts you down over trivial things like location. What's the point of earning top ratings when leadership just ignores it all?”

This 100% - the company never leverages performance reviews I don’t even know why we have them honestly. They could care less about performance here.

I am not motivated because I am just lazy. So lazy, I'm not even gonna try to make up an excuse.

Worried about getting laid off because you are hardly doing any work. You really never cared. Really just wanted the gravy train to keep rolling.

Just do enough to not be fired nothing more, no extra but no reason to be fired.

How to stay motivated if C-suite doesn’t care about employees. BOD doesn’t give a damn about what’s going on. Why should I care if I see good people are being laid off and it is a matter of time before they get rid of me.

I don't.
Who cares?

Leadership doesn't care.
Our "team" doesn't care. Wouldn't P on you if you were on fire.
AD and Director don't care.

What I am trying to get at is that no one cares. If you're miserable in this environment, leave. If you 're just collecting the paycheck, do what you need to do to stay. No one cares.

If you're looking for a rah-rah, team building, "fun" work environment where people genuinely care about each other you are surely at the wrong place.
