Refer to the written policy on HR OneStop. Oh yea, I forgot it does not exist. Also, if I were to ask the people sitting around me in the office I would get a variety of answers - because of the half a$$ way this has been implemented.

Overweight middle management social butterflies with useless business degrees is a large part of what got this company in this mess.
And because of it, important technical people who actually maintain the network and create products are suffering.
I have 0 respect for management here, they’re non-technical, uneducated, incompetent, absolute mo--ns. I’ve never been impressed by a single ‘people manager’ I’ve met at this company in the 5 years I’ve worked here.
This company consistently promotes non-technical ‘people’ types who manage technical projects (which means they don’t do sh-t because they have no skills to contribute) and have no idea what’s going on often relying on a talented developer to actually manage the teams without the actual title or pay.
It’s made me sick, I hate these people.

“What a mouth breathing imbecile.

Who said that I'm mad at my direct reports? Not mad at them at all as they are for the most part complying. And sure, along with pretty much everyone else, I am "mad" at executive management over a nonsensical policy. So then what? You'd have me ignore the policy because I don't agree with it? You're a dim wit.”

Hey man, at least I’m a productive member of society actually making something writing software, releasing new systems that save the company tens of millions of dollars, probably making more than an uneducated mediocre ‘people person’ pretending a business degree is a real degree - middling away at a dying telecom company in a dying field (middle management) but sure man, I’m the ‘dim wit’ just stay away from the rope isle in the next few years, ok?

Next offpayroll date as many of us know is July 9th. VP org getting numbers on further cuts. Notifications next month (August) off payroll, October.

If you’re sure you’re going to be next, don’t bother going in. By the time you trend for a few weeks and get called out on it, it will be time to be off payroll. You’ll be glad you didn’t waste your time or money.

Not only have I not been in the office since last September, but I log in 3.5 days per week and I’m designated in office at Plano. No warnings. Biggest bonus yet. In fact I got that quarterly bonus recently, so it’s 2 bonuses the last few months. Yeah, keep going in 3 days guy. #rolleyes

“The first time that someone above that L3 gets called out on the status of their report...everyone will be scrambling like rats trying to CYA. Folks in my org legit were not paid their bonuses for non-compliance with the policy. No warnings.”

I didn’t go into the office once til March and got a $25k bonus.
But I’m a developer working in network and considered critical to operations so. No one in our org has gotten in any trouble for this nonsense.

“So you go on not caring, and see how it works out for ya.”

I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on how it works out for me.
:)

If you have 3 days of PTO in a week you are still excluded from the report, but your director can change the filter settings to show compliance with the day you’re supposed to be in.
You are correct, technically you’re supposed to go the days you’re not off…but atm if your director/boss isn’t enforcing it no one else is checking.

We will see if I get an email eventually, but I’ve given no fu--s so far and coffee badged (1-2 hours max in office) this entire year and gotten 0 warnings from ANYONE and appear totally compliant on all reports.

We will see, but I suspect I’m chillin doing actually work from home while a lot of you HR paper pushers are fretting about office time.

" Also, I don’t care, it still doesn’t show on the report, and my director doesn’t care"

This is funny because this guy thinks this doesn't apply to him.

The first time that someone above that L3 gets called out on the status of their report...everyone will be scrambling like rats trying to CYA. Folks in my org legit were not paid their bonuses for non-compliance with the policy. No warnings.

“ I have to go in the 4th of July? Jeez.
Also, I don’t care, it still doesn’t show on the report, and my director doesn’t care.
Did it last time I took PTO, no one said anything, gonna keep doing it til someone says something. I don’t care about the policy, still coffee badging too, no one has said sh-t. Director thinks it’s all a joke too.”

In case you forgot, your post said 2 different things - you said you took “Wednesday, Thursday, Friday “ and said you were taking 3 days PTO.

If you take 3 days PTO you are expected to be in the office the other two days.

This week there are only four days available for PTO. If you take three days, then you need to be in the office.(per the new rules.) the fourth day.

Of course you can do what you want, but likely you have not been on reports because they were not reporting on that previously. But they are now. Whether your Director thinks it’s a joke or not doesn’t matter Dash he/she will think it matters when it starts to affect his/her’s own paycheck.

This is a day that we celebrate the men who stood up for themselves against tyranny and said "no more." Honor these men and their sacrifices by going in on your normal days. Don't go in extra just to make the spreadsheet wizards happy. Stand up for yourself.

Make sure you get at least 8 hours in. HR is tracking time in minutes soon, not just days. When they start that, you’ll want a proper presence history.

“Wrong, again. HR is playing games pitting the employee against their manager by threatening to cut the manager's bonus whenever an employee misses too many weeks, putting pressure on the employee to comply out of respect for their manager.”
It is the spineless Director/AVP who is afraid of not getting his bonus who torments his subordinates. It is not out of respect, it is out of fear. Don’t think so highly of yourself.

“Imagine this being the thing people are discussing. How many days do I need to go in. Pitiful”

Office is nothing but a waste of time, gas, money, and energy.
It exists solely to cut and provide a way for incompetent managers to hover.

Of course no one wants to go in, I just took PTO 3 days with the 4th so I don’t have to.

leaders overlook personal accommodations for work effort.

it should be abundantly clear to everyone, that from top down, the company is managing you. It is now built into the policy. leadership is not only rare now at att, but it is being eliminated from att. in the immortal words of Stankey, you are t#rds on his desk. if you don't like it, leave. when John is trying to be honest with you, believe him.

The “Presence Report “ measures attendance by percentage. Every day you go in up to 3 days helps that percentage.

Wrong. It's based on how many times you show up per week. Stop making up nonsense, we've all seen the Power BI presence report and we know how it works.

The only change that was made to the report was when Bonnie (the HR lady) flapped her lips and added her "unofficial" 2 cents on PTO, which is why the company quickly backtracked and PTO no longer counts.

You'll show up as 1 or 2 days, but you'll still be flagged as non-compliant for the week. If you're going to be marked as non-compliant for the week, it doesn't matter if you have 0, 1, or 2 days.

Taking a stance that “if I have to miss one day I should skip the week all together”, will get you terminated.

Wrong, again. HR is playing games pitting the employee against their manager by threatening to cut the manager's bonus whenever an employee misses too many weeks, putting pressure on the employee to comply out of respect for their manager.

A smart leadership team would either give this cr-p a rest for this week as a ‘thank you’ or at least say just come in M/T and close the office to save energy. Since intelligence is not a hallmark of our leaders I’m just taking Wed and Friday off. Might have worked Wed if I didn’t have to come in but no way in he-l am I driving to my office location at the start of a big holiday weekend. I bet there will be so much collaboration and trust that your head would explode.

Will do the same for Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year.

“ That being said, if your plan was to not come in 3 days this week, don't bother going in at all. Stay home. You don't get credit for going in 2 days, so you'd just be wasting your own time commuting only to be marked tardy for the week.”

Inaccurate and nonsensical.

The “Presence Report “ measures attendance by percentage. Every day you go in up to 3 days helps that percentage.

" Imagine giving a sh-t what upper management thinks."

I couldn't give 1 (or 2) what they think. Thats said, I am at a "stage of life" where I need to eek it out a little longer. So I am not looking to make it easier for them to can me.

Been around a while. Therefore, I am able to pick up on the fact that since they went out of their way to make the expectation clear multiple times before this week, that if I show up on that report next week as non-compliant, I don't have a leg to stand on.
