Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Have there been any changes to the severance package recently?

Every new layoff round I keep worrying that severance will get nerfed even further.

Has anyone heard of a potential change to cap the severance plan at 6-months starting in 2025?

Maybe but I don’t think he’s pulling the ripcord until the carcass is nearly picked clean anyway, no point in altering severance once all the layoffs are done, right?

In reality the main reason severance is even a thing is because it limits how many lawsuits they have to fight. Even if there’s no case from the fired employee, the legal costs can end up outweighing the cost of severance. If they were to eliminate it or even reduce it more people would start kicking the can on lawsuits. I really think it’s like you said, if they thought it was in the best interest of cost savings to get rid of it, they already would have.

They are trying to terminate rather than pay severance

Search the board on this tired topic. Voting already closed for this year; it’s the same.

It’s in the benefits book, Appendix F. You can look this up yourself.

No. Honestly, if they were going to change it, it would have made the most sense to do so couple years ago before the large waves of downsizing every few weeks became the norm. I don't have a crystal ball, but if I had to guess I'd say that cutting the severance will be Shart's last act as he pulls the ripcord on the golden parachute. He'd get the blame from the troops (not that he gives an S) and the next leadership group gets the rewards of lower costs going forward.
