Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Silly Workspace

It's funny working where most people WANT to be laid off creating a joke of an environment without care. Managers at all levels are routinely surplussed leaving those left behind walking on eggshells in constant worry for their role and how much severance pay they'll get while union workers dream daily of their termination package! So throughout the org resonates attitudes not conducive with a successful business model. Simply put: nobody gives a f-k and our workplace is a joke. So it's just funny hanging out at work doing the minimal to not get fired as we all just wait to be inevitably laid off eventually. Many of us just hope it happens sooner.

I hope that someone from the top or their chief of staff reads the posts on this forum, makes notes and passes it to T leaders. Do they know how we feel about this company. Seems they are deaf and blind. Stankey’s RTO policy will be a nail to the T coffin.

It was for me, almost 25 years ago. It was the second best career change I ever made.

The #1 change was more recently when the piece of cr-p company that AT&T has become gave me 6 months pay so I could retire a couple years early.

Same for me, but a few less years of service. My last day is 7/9. I am thankful for the severance, payment for unused PTO, unemployment, pro rated bonus to be paid in ‘25. And most of all, freedom from the daily grind.

“…the AVP level disappears and all of the are moved to Director, and all the Directors are demoted to Associate Directors….”
Is this actually true? There are so many of them. Is there a timeline for this? Also why don’t they make company award percentage the same for everyone? Why have 11%, 13%, 19%, 25% for different levels? Make all 15%.

"Hiring on at AT&T was the proverbial “winning of the lottery” for many."

The #1 change was more recently when the piece of cr-p company that AT&T has become gave me 6 months pay so I could retire a couple years early. Started my own small business to support the early retirement, and I feel sorry for the poor saps that still have to work there.

I walked into a great company with a smile on my face, but I left a dumpster fire smiling even wider.

I did not cry. They continued to take more and more benefits away so it really didn't matter any more.

Hiring on at AT&T was the proverbial “winning of the lottery” for many. This truly is the best they’ll ever have it and that’s exactly why they’re still here.

I want to leave but too many obstacles. Lack of talent, lack of other opportunities, pay and benefits. Guess I'll just stay and continue to "want" to leave.

Many of the AVPs and Directors are concerned that their job levels are basically going away and the positions demoted one level so that the AVP level disappears and all of the are moved to Director, and all the Directors are demoted to Associate Directors.

I think there is an old adage about this: 'Then they came for me but there was no one left to speak for me.'

Maybe they should have shown some concern earlier.

If you really didn't want to be here, you would leave. You know AT&T is as good as it gets for you.

Us wavers got the sweet death. You got the slow turning sc--ws. I used my smart brain to stay out of that mess.

Oh I’m sure you will be ok. Right?

Everyone talks big in an anonymous forum. Cry like a little baby if they were really laid off.
