Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

William Barnhart

Some people say the cleaning staff let the cat out of the bag and that Barnhart closes in November. Managers say the lease ends at the end of 2025. Anyone know whats really going on? They are limiting entrances and implementing tracking systems. Not to mention the morale is non existent. Upper management keeps drowning us and wont let us hire replacements.

Terminating a lease, or leaving just the lights on, is still cheaper than keeping employees at a location. The physical building status WILL NOT buy you time or be any sort of indicator of a timeline. Most LOBs exit on their own timeline prior to closure. No one will be locking the front door behind you as you walk out.

Dude! Security guards seem hostile. Lol they don't care about layoffs for Wells Fargo employees. It's going to be okay. We will be laid off like others but unless your metrics su-k or if your schedule adherence and attendance is tracked for phones, then they aren't looking to let you go. The environment alone will drive some away, most of us are just doing what we need until something better comes along or severance.

I remember when the lot was so full you couldn’t find a place to park :-(

‘pressuring managers to retroactively rescind approval on PTO to wrack up occurrences for team members’ 🤣😂😂 what are you smoking?! This is not happening. Is corporate trying to get ppl to quit? Absolutely. but no manager is going through that amount of trouble when they too are also in the same boat of being laid off. 90% of managers don’t even track attendance very well. There is no standard for attendance tracking it’s up to each manager

If you work at Barnhart you should know they are starting to really ramp up looking for any reasons to terminate team members instead of waiting for layoff and paying out severance,

They are even looking back through past performance, pressuring managers to retroactively rescind approval on PTO to wrack up occurrences for team members at Barnhart, even the security guards seem hostile toward us lately!

People are being let go or given notice in smaller numbers at barnhart, it's just not announced or noticed as much. Parking lot is pretty empty every day. Business and growth is happening all around that area. Would make sense to get things moving on this old building.

Such a horrible job that employees want to get let go, but employees wont quit because they need their severance.

Wells Fargo will likely drag this out for as long as possible in an attempt to "naturally" lower head count.

When a lease ends & when they leave a building is 2 different things. It common to vacate the building prior to lease end to minimize costs (power, water, cleaning contracts, food service, etc). The lease cost is already fixed cost, most companies want to cut the rest of the costs.

If HY wasn't full of total d!**$, they'd just let everyone in BC work from home until they are downsized. But, they are, so they won't.

Yes, I agree with the current rumors. Most of what has been barnhart rumor has taken place but time varies. The way they are doing stuff around the building , and the new owners who are overseeing changes are more present, speaks to an early closure, not nov 2025. Some will last longer but imagine most will be out before end of year 2024 to prepare for next occupancy. The area is highly sought after for businesses with a plan. WF is so over Oregon. Y

Anyone who knows isn’t telling. Highly doubt Barnhart closes nov 24. Why bother telling everyone ‘by end of 25’ if they won’t make it to 25? Not everyone will make it to 25 but most will I bet. Just let us all go already!!!!

I don't think any of us know for sure. Many of us were certain we wouldn't survive through June.

I suspect that WF might be able to get out of the lease earlier than Nov 2025 depending on who owns/manages the property. If Barnhart is still owned by the Beaverton School District, they might be willing to terminate the lease early with no penalty to WF if they have plans to expand the neighboring school into the building.

Even if they close the site this year while still maintaining the lease until its end in Nov 2025, they would likely see it as a savings to let the building sit empty for a year (less payroll and utilities overall)
