Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Don't waste your life here

This is a dead-end job. It wasn't always, but it is now. When's the last time you saw somebody promoted because they earned it by being good at their job? I can't remember. All the promotions are given to kissasses. I'm personally not willing to stoop to that level to move my career forward, so instead I'm planning to leave. I think that's the only good option in the current circumstances.

I’ve seen several people that had been there for years get up to MD but these weren’t particularly good people to work with. The writing was on the wall when I hustled hard at a K level and people were joining at L level with fewer responsibilities and having that grace period of being new.

Promotion from within? Doesn't happen often above grades k or L. Seems out of 45k BNY people noone is qualified to advance in the eyes of the C-suite. Must go outside to find talent and "fresh" eyes. Upper grades are filled from JPM, WF, BoA, or some unknown fintech. ( and we've all seen how well thats been working out). Best to leave and then come back if you want really to advance in title and pay.....that is if you really want to come back to this...
