Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

First Citizens?

Interviewing with them soon, anyone have any Intel? I know they are a proponent of remote work, as many of their roles are remote. Thanks.

OP here, interview is next week, job is remote, so I can work from home here in the Charlotte area. They seem okay with the fact that I have a 60-day notice period, but a bit iffy on matching my long-term equity. Let me know how you like it once you start.

I just got hired there and have not started yet. I wanted fully remote, growth opportunities and a better culture. I'm fully expecting there to still be things like outdated processes, technology and figuring things out as they go. But I needed to get away from the constant layoffs on my team and the main focus of WF seems to be offshoring and RTO, neither of which aligned with my career goals.

FCB will not be moving to Agile anytime soon despite what SVB does. FCB bought the loans and deposits and will integrate them into their own systems. Down the road we hope to learn where Agile can be applied and have enough talent from WF and others where Agile has failed to build a correct strategy.

My wife works for them and is fully remote, she keeps asking me why I wont leave WF and go work for them, I said I’ve put in the time, I want my severance.

OP - given what you said, I would recommend FCB over WF. It is a smaller bank that is essentially owned by a family. The only caveat is potential exposure to commercial real estate loans. The Holdings seem to have a lot of money though and they've been around for a long time.

I have have friends from Wachovia/WF at FCB. They seem happy.

It would be interesting to see how "agile" they actually are. WF certainly isn't agile. It's a clusterf*ck.

OP here … Fin Crimes role, remote in NC, lower salary than my current gig at Wells but very doable given the fact that I am planning to retire in maybe 3 years

First Citizens is still trying to figure out what to do with the 8,000 people they inherited from Silicon Valley Bank - so curious as to what position.

FCB is basically a smallish regional bank that suddenly became a much larger bank (LFI) and is trying to figure out what that means. Currently FCB and SVB are essentially operating as separate entities but that won't last forever. If you are on the technical side of things - FCB is old-school Waterfall while SVB is almost pure Agile. Trying to merge those two philosophies will be a challenge.
