Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Can you imagine?

Having a decent leadership that actually knows what they’re doing and inspires loyalty and respect? Being proud of working in the company? Having satisfaction from work well done? Being appreciated and valued if you are hard working and trying to be good at your job? Have a company that invests in you and treats you as a human being? I can’t.

Nothing has changed for years. Feels much different on the 'outside' - much more normal, and healthy with lots of opportunity. Feels a million miles away now. Play around with the surveys - that's always fun!

Leadership has no vision for the future of Verizon. There is no plan for growth. It's a race to the bottom, cutting costs where ever possible. Leaders are only looking to last as long as they can.

Wake up people our leaders are only loyal to their own paychecks. Right behind that are stakeholders who are either shareholders or other leaders that will keep them employed. This company is about managing up as much as possible and moving around often so you don't have to deal with the fallout of too much lipstick on your pigs.

A VSP now means that a) the company is too big and they need to cut the US workforce as much as possible b) they don't know who to cut so it's death by a 1000 cuts and c) this is just the beginning. Everyone knows there will be reorgs and more RIFs to come. Maybe some groups will do OK but others will be feeling the pain. And I mean pain right after the VSP while we wait for the leaders to figure out who to put where. Everyone will be stuck with their own job, their peers job, and heck maybe even their managers job. And face it that nobody will care about you because they are only out trying to save themselves.

I know people that were safe and were riffed due to poor management decision making (management called it upskilling, reskilling, etc...) and I know people that were reorg'd and then made obsolete by management hierarchy and riffed. You may feel safe but the reality is you are a number and when you settle into your new org, you may not be as important as you think you are.

What's this cr-p about loyalty to a corporation??? It's a JOB, not a friend. You do some work, you get a paycheck and some benefits. Until they decide they don't need you anymore.

They're still there because they are doing exactly what they were hired to do.

Don’t understand how with all of those bad decisions they are still in the top and what is worse they keep getting bonus for all of those bad decisions and keep layinoff employees to fix those mistakes, instead of make them go. 😞

The Swedish Meatball was fired from his prev CEO job for fraud, bribery, tanking the company. Why did VZ choose to make him CEO? They couldn’t find a better candidate?

Based on VZPulse survey results and leadership talks we have all those things so you must be mistaken right?
