I don’t know how’s for the rest of you, but I think I fell into the worst group of people ever. Lead is incompetent and rude. People in the team create tensions every day, most are trying to offload work on others. There is an inordinate amount of gossip and groupings. Lazy and manipulative ones su-k up to lead and easily cover for sh---y work. High school drama all around. I’m very good at keeping myself away from all that and refusing to do anything outside my responsibilities, but still. Go spend your whole day, every day with such sh---y people, and try to work in such a toxic environment.

found my doppelganger :)
I’ll bet that you’re just the pride of your team, aren’t you…
Don’t be resentful and jealous. Take the opportunity to learn from his knowledge of relational database schemas. Learn from him while you can. Having a high number of code commits means he’s working his tail off.
Try to learn from this boomer and you too can be a hero.
Sounds just exactly like any corporation for which that I’ve ever worked.
First job?
There aren’t never ending cuts. This year there haven’t been any cuts. People are electing to terminate themselves by refusing RTO requirements. This means that they have quit and receive no package. There won’t be any layoffs until we run out of employees who apparently are well off enough to quit their jobs.
It's dog eat dog
As the saying goes: Too may chiefs not many ... This is exactly whats wrong with this company. Too may grades who just want to delegate stuff to their reports who do the same theirs and so on. Have you seen any hands on work done by any of the 10+ layers of management between actual doers and the CEO?
I can't say my co-workers were great friends but we were pretty much all competent worked as a team in the face of ever ending cuts and id--tic bureaucracies. Sometimes you might have to ask for something twice because we were so busy but we were always willing to help each other and do what's right for the business and us. We each knew our strengths and weaknesses and pulled together to get things done.
Same as my group. Clearance and collateral management, horrendous MD who only know how to manage up, who likes to boast his knowledge of archaic database tables and columns, high school like cliches, mediocre people all around, rife with really bad politics, back stabbing, complete show offs blowing out of proportion the work they are doing. Corrupting code base in the name of having highest number of commits to github. It cannot get worse than this.
This is the way
Sounds my group too. “Digital”. Cr-p cr-p everywhere
Sounds just like my group. No point in moving anywhere but out.
