Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Be honest…

I’m interested in hearing DIRECTLY from people who spoke up straight to their faces, not people who are trying to excuse themselves and feel better about staying silent.

I was hit by one of the layoffs in the last 10 months, it seems like a few people have really stuck their necks out and risked their jobs amidst layoffs for everyone since then, but it seems like no one really had their back and helped push back to keep up the pressure.

When I was still there, I shared info to support coworkers in large slack channels regularly that managers did not like and the most support I got was a bunch of emojis. Movements die like that and people like the ones in leadership never learn a lesson, other than they can get away with whatever, even if it’s illegal.

Interested to hear from thoughtful people, not sh!t a$$ old men afraid of DEI and ethics who are oblivious to the big picture.

@2eee+1tnBNbr3 Your efforts are a waste of time at this point. Save your energy to find something better. Build connections elsewhere because everyone at 2U is too exhausted.

Post ID: @2hij+1tnBNbr3 You stare in your post that “ individuals contributors are being identified to form a skeleton crew and are being awarded raises/promotions so they'll stick around to navigate bankruptcy. attrition isn't just a goal, it's a requirement for 2U's bankruptcy strategy moving forward.” can you elaborate on this? This is a major statement.

there isn't anything left at the company to fight for. stock price this morning is about $4, which is about $0.13 on pre reverse split prices. even if workers unionized somehow, there's nothing left to give out. remember, 2U has ONE debt payment due in early 2025 that is about 300% of how much cash 2U has on hand TOTAL.

right now, the board of directors is paying execs $$$$ to stick around while their reputations get trashed internally and externally. individuals contributors are being identified to form a skeleton crew and are being awarded raises/promotions so they'll stick around to navigate bankruptcy. attrition isn't just a goal, it's a requirement for 2U's bankruptcy strategy moving forward.

only reason to stick around at this point is if you're getting your bag on the skeleton crew or if you're enjoying the warmth from the flames

@1ufu+1tnBNbr3 you’re failing to realize how advocating for yourself and others at work is important in this country, because that’s just how our system is set up. Not just at 2U, everywhere.

@2dud+1tnBNbr3 What about this post is run to save 2U??? I personally hope it burns down and people responsible go to jail, lose their money, and never work in a decision making capacity again. I’m talking about giving a sh-t about yourself and coworkers, even thought it won’t change c-suite or the outcome here, it’s a way to build connections and not be so fu--ing miserable and isolated.

Stop rolling over and taking whatever sh-t is handed to you silently and stop pushing other people to be quiet pushovers because it’s annoying to you to think differently.

How about stop trying to save the dumpster fire that is 2U. Stop trying to be a hero. Do what you have to do to GET OUT.

P.S. These DEI battles are getting old. It’s obvious people bring it up to derail any other productive conversation.

All this whining about DEI makes me not feel that sorry for any of you.

Get out of that company. You've known it's a sinking ship for years, protect yourself get out!

There are no movements. No unions, no standing up for yourself. It's not a country. its not going to change. Leave!
