Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Things have changed for good

Seeing so many unhappy people makes me sad. Intel used to be a place where people liked their jobs and enjoyed coming to work. That has now changed for good. It's not just about the layoffs, either. I think it's about the work environment overall and the toxicity that is becoming worse and worse daily. What a sad place this has become.

Fire low performers. It feels like those who are in intel for long time are surviving just because they know who can do what or they have contacts to get things done. But is that all they should do? All toxic people are information hungry and tend to use shallow information to earn trust from execs.

Here is the root of the problem - TOXIC ENGINEERING MANAGERS BUILDING EMPIRES AND NOT BEING STOPPED! Too many layers of political engineering managers not contributing to Intel and only building their power. We need another ACT targeting grade 9-11 engineering managers. Especially those with <5 reports. Spans and levels baby - spans and levels.

Toxic work environment and low moral have been persistent since ACT2015/16. The company never recovers from the destruction caused by BK and MR. While these two are probably still live in a luxurious retired life, tens of thousands have their lives/careers ruined.

Lest we forget that the place was toxic before the late 2022 layoffs. In many cases, but not all, getting ahead was more about how well you wanted to play the game, talk the talk, be a part of the gang, and deal with a toxic environment/manager. I've seen some really good workers let go during the last 1.5 years and it has nothing to do with their performance. Those that were allowed to stay may have played the game well enough but now they're experiencing a more concentrated toxicity that they bought into. Sad indeed.

Thank Pastor Pat! While everyone else had their pay reduced, bonuses cut, promotions denied, 401K contributions reduced etc. Pat reduced revenue by $35,000,000,000 and received a nice 45% pay raise for his "hard work".

It seems odd to pay someone $750,000/day to drive revenue and stock prices in to the shi**er but, you have to admit, it's working.....

In many cases, the high performers will leave first either voluntarily or involuntarily as many power are still in the hands of toxic people.

Let's think what made people unhappy... For sure not nepotism, constant lies, seeing people not doing theirs work, DEI, 0 meritocracy, low stock price...

Kick all low-perfo that is ~40k ppl and we will be happy again.
