old and Hanging on for a package

I'm old and hanging onto my package also.
Every month worked is another $15 per month in my pension not to mention the weekly pay rate to do practically nothing all day. It's easy money! Those who say they would be so gone more than likely would balk because it's money for nothing!
Retired at the end of 2020. Brother and SIL are retiring this quarter. My decision to leave at that time was largely based on the increasing apathy and incompetence in the worforce. Cost reduction layoffs are an opportunity for companies to rid themselves of underperforming dead weight. AT&T would do well to cut 50,000 more, and then backfill some of those positions with new hires having a hunger to excel.
It’s going to be a while. Make sure you have plenty of clean Depends on hand.
No retirement benefits if retired after 12/31/2020. For Management.
Age old question, comes up every generation. Older employees continue to work for many other reasons than just waiting for severance. Not all long term or older employees have flush retirement accounts due to many life factors and need to work longer. Medical issues, taking care of dependents, divorce, not full retirement (SS) eligible, lost investment money, lower wage scale, only one income, etc..
I really don’t understand people that are eligible to retire and draw benefits still working here. I really don’t. I would be so gone. Maybe your life and job is easy and gives you something to do, idk. My job is hard and extremely stressful. Idk if I’ll make it to retire. All the hours all the time, 7 days per week with no time off, no work/life balance. Yeah I’d be gone tomorrow if I could. I’ll be bailing as soon as I possibly can and enjoying my life. Is the 6 month severance really worth it? Heck no.
Let my younger coworkers carry me.
30 days is lol. I heard it was 2 weeks
T package is only severance pay and you should be happy, since you get 6 month payout now.
Rumor has it that next year Stankey will limit severance to 30 days.
" A severance Package"
No, just severance. There is no package.
A severance Package
lot of jealousy from dopes that are not optimistic about their future . CONGRATS , hold on do little to nothing and take the 6 months when offered
I don't think there will be any "packages;" just leave or don't leave, and oh, btw, might want to decide before the end of the year if your pension is dependent on the rates that come out in November. Any retirement perks are pretty much gone, and even if you get promised/offered some, they will be taken away in a few years anyway.
Everyone I know that retired died
Dead weight
Been retirement eligible for many years, but why leave when it's basically money for nothing! Easy work, easier work schedule part-time work for full-time pay. I'm not going anywhere until I turn 70 because retirement is over-rated!
No! I worked hurricanes, snow and ice storms, unpaid overtime, bought work boots for that useless strike training, for 30 plus years all for the promise of retirement benefits. Then The Stink laughs and says you really believed The T would deliver on that promise, sad little child! You should have saved more like I did. But Stink, your benefits are contractually guaranteed even though you could afford them a thousand times over!
Nope, I’m paying down my mortgage with as many paychecks as I can get and keeping employee medical coverage. Come out with a package that includes medical and we’ll talk. And sell the jet if you want an ounce of respect from employees.
"The bell tolls for you boomer. Times up!"
Not only Boomers are at a point they can retire.
You worked your entire life. It’s time to take it easy. You don’t need more money because money can’t buy you more time.
I bet your money will outlive you. Why not go off and enjoy what little quality of life you have left?
Punch out now. Who knows how many good years you have left.
The bell tolls for you boomer. Times up!
Welfare.
Will the last person there please turn off the lights? i am doubtful that anyone can right this ship
What package are you waiting for?
Retirement eligible also. I’m hanging in because it gets the youngsters angry for some reason.
