RIF package after VSP not approved is better than original VSP?

Is this true? I read somewhere in the comments that if you were offered and then applied for VSP, end up being denied VSP this round, and then you get RIFed within a certain time frame, the package is better than original VSP. I’m asking because it means there’s still hope even if my VSP application is now denied.

You can wait and watch all you want.

The rules are clearly laid out. There will be no surprises. You don't think the lawyers have rubber stamped the plan? You think Vz cares about the press? You think the press cares about Vz employees?

They did RIFs after the 2018 VSP. You hear of any major lawsuits being won after that?

Bottom line is, if you are eligible and you think there is ANY chance that your role will be eliminated or outsourced, you are nuts not to take the offer. Hopefully your organization is communicating what their vision is post VSP. On the corporate side, they aren't mincing any words. It's been very transparent that they want a lean mean org after the dust settles and they'll do what they have to in order to achieve that.

Another interesting bit - a few people were laid off from VBG in 2018 * just * PRIOR to VSP and HR contacted those people and asked if they wanted to be included in the VSP with the extra severance in exchange for the agreement that they could not work for VZ in the future.

@ybs+1tsNYH7j TY! I guess I’ll sit back and watch as a new sh-t show unfolds … bad press, lawsuits, etc

Story line: Company Greed - VZ separated 5k employees under the voluntary enhanced package (3 wks/yr), subsequently lay offs an additional 1k-3k providing only the standard package (2 wks/yr)

if the number opted in VSP is low, the chance get deny is slim and none

@gse+1tsNYH7j Not lies. You best go back and read your FAQ again.

  1. If you were eligible for VSP and declined to volunteer and are later RIFd (whether before end of March or not, you get the standard package.
  1. If you were not eligible for the VSP and you are RIFd before end of March, you get the enhanced package.
  1. If you were eligible and volunteer but are rejected, but then RIFd before end March, you get the enhanced package.

@rxu+1tsNYH7j is exactly correct. If you were OFFERED the package, RTFM. We all got it. It's long and tedious, but the information is in there if you read it.

@xlq+1tsNYH7j “ A RIF. I believe they are saying December. And yes it is confirmed, if you denied VSP then are RIF’D, the RIF severance package will be nowhere near what was offered through the VSP”

All lies… if you are RIFed from now all the way till March 2025, you are still entitled to the enhanced severance package or VSP as stated on the FAQ doc

From what I have heard, it is confirmed they are nowhere near what was expected from the VSP turnout. Meaning, it was done for financial reasons only, and not enough people opted for the VSP, leaving them with the next option. A RIF. I believe they are saying December. And yes it is confirmed, if you denied VSP then are RIF’D, the RIF severance package will be nowhere near what was offered through the VSP. Basically hinting and hoping more people will take the VSP out of freight of being RIFd.

No not really .
Read the FAQ 22/23 I think.
If you do get denied and you get riffed at the very last moment you will have gotten more than someone who left in september only because you worked longer so got paid for working and the associated STI for that time.
