I’m going to LEAN IN here and offer my advice to stop outsourcing the most vital and valuable customer information to third parties. Some HR nerd calculated salary savings on a spreadsheet but couldn’t have possibly factored the risk to our company image a debacle like this caused. You are very welcome!

Yes, agreed! Years ago I worked in billing and we housed customer bill data. Our group was outsourced years ago, and it was hard to understand why we would allow a third party to take over this customer data!,

The recent layoffs had no impact on the latest data breach. This incident happened last year and is only just now being announced. Employees at T didn’t have needed skills to detect or control the vulnerability when it occurred.

It’s good advice. When you layoff so many people who know where the bodies are buried, eventually someone will let someone else know the grave site.

How about giving India access to our network. Giving poor countries network passwords is a recipe for a disaster. They can be compromised.
