Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Contingent in Title

One of my friends title in teams suddenly changed with "contingent" attached to the title.
Does anyone knows that that mean.

for example "risk officer - contingent"

Wells might be doing an operation where they'll secretly convert employees to contractors.

If the employee notices, they're told it was a glitch. If the employee doesn't notice, they eventually get canned and leadership celebrates with champagne at a late night party.

His employment status is contingent upon his satisfactory performance. His last performance evaluation was bad.

It means they are the first one to be let go in layoffs.

It means they are a contractor, not a Wells FTE. If this is not the case, they need to contact HR immediately.
