VSP- who would decide the end date

Hi regarding the end date, whether it’s September, end of the year or next March, is it decided by the managers or maybe higher level like sr directors?

Senior director here who is taking VSP and I also have many people on my team doing the same. Our SVP indicated she will decide dates once she gets the full list. They are also making workforce plans to decide what work is critical and what work can stop. That’s happening across the company. The combination of that will determine the end date. By default, they are inclined to push everyone in September. However, if you were deemed critical due to a project that’s ending later or if many people in your team are leaving, then someone will be forced to stay back longer.

AI will be making the decision in roll off date. No human consideration. Pure metrics and no human compassion or empathy, regardless of the words they say about “caring for you every step of the way.” BS

I accepted the 2018 package after 28 years and requested the latest date of June 30 from the department VP. He informed me that I really had no say in the matter and those with higher salaries are the first to go and it was decided that my out the door date was December 28.

@ikg+1ty3qfn3 ... well worst case scenario is that you click and are rejected, finish the project and are then riffed. You'll get the VSP package as long as it's before 3/28/25.

They are leaving this up to our wonderful HR. They do not care what your working on, or how important you think it is, of anything like that at all. This is about saving money, and your just a number to them. To your co-workers, your something totally different. This is how Verizon works. They are going to offload your work to whomever is left behind...simple as that...or ship it over to HCL....Plan on Sept 13th being your last day...that's all..

HR and your senior management will decide your leave date - keep in mind most will be off in Sept as Verizon wants to get employees the financial books ASAP.

Decisions will be made at Sr Leadership/Sr HRBP level (what @yup+1ty3qfn3 said)
Majority off payroll Sept.
Justifications required for Dec/March.
Very few, if any, rejections.
Very few backfills.

My understanding is that unless there are very specific circumstances for a specific employee to keep them around longer, and it is approved at a high level (not direct manager), anyone who presses the VSP button should expect to be off payroll during the first wave (September).

What I’ve been told is it’ll be people who don’t even know my name, my role, or what I do that will make the final decision.

This is what worries me, I don’t care which date as long as it is a date. I am on an escalated project not going well. Mgr says she has no input.
