Re-org, 1 Year

If a re-organization occurs and someone reports to a new manager, does the one year (you know...the blessing of posting for other positions after one year in a position) start over?

@2lqj+1u0594Ry They should, but they don’t. Seems to be a tactic to force employees to stay in high attrition positions. It happens too often for it to be an accident.

It’s probably illegal, but does that matter? We break laws at the same rate Russians commit war crimes.

Heck no. Even if Workday resets it, that should be corrected since you didn't move if your own accord and never posted for the re-orged job. Nobody can help when that happens.

I replied that it happened. It is accurate. My title didn't change. I was moved to another group due to a reorg. My job and title did not change. Several months after the reorg, I applied for another position and during the Recruiter screening, the recruiter raised this as a problem. I was shocked but told I absolutely could not proceed to the next stage to interview with the hiring manager without my current manager's permission to do so. My current manager was also surprised but said she wouldn't stand in my way and I was able to continue in the process. Maybe it isn't that way in all cases, but it was for me. OP should know this can happen.

No. If you’re title and role stay the same your time in position stays the same. Happened to me as our whole team got moved to another and then later a title change. But I had no issue posting and part of it was also our leader was trying to essentially get rid of us. We weren’t a good fit for the team and he was rather clueless about what we did.

That’s aside a manger doesn’t have to enforce time in position. I think they can release you if you find a different position

If they change your title in the re-org, workday sees it as a job change. They play this game all the time.

Whoever said yes is totally wrong or was told they couldn’t by a leader who had no clue what they were talking about. It’s 12 months for your time in YOUR position. So if your manager changes weekly or which area you report to changes daily or your responsibilities change on a minute by minute basis, it has no impact on you meeting that year requirement so long as you are still in the same position you were in a year ago. Now, if you are moved to a different position (even if moved involuntarily) as a result of changes, then yes, your timeline starts over again.
