Scabs

How many of you could take a job if you knew the person who had it before was getting laid off ?

My manager is a SCAB. He’s also a LM DEI hire though so it’s understandable.

Remember that people you work with are not your friends, they are merely acquaintances. I'm sure when someone gets laid off, their co-workers are not concerned with them leaving, but more concerned on their own jobs. People who say are your friends, you will find out the truth once you get let go!

That is NOT what a scab is.

Why would it matter to me if the previous person was terminated? Not my problem.

Yes. Just about every job had a person before that. We are not meant to hold jobs for so many years. I just keep my skills up to date and keep on moving.
Each time I have moved was typically met with increases in different ways.
A layoff is just very unfortunate way to go though.

Technically every time BNY won a client someone else lost it and probably resulted in layoffs.

I supposed it depends how desperate I was. It certainly would sour it for me. But I don't think you can blame workers in say, India for example, for taking jobs that they know were eliminated in the U.S. These are company decisions. It's not the workers' fault.
