Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Just had meeting with Manager

Looks like there is no decision made yet. My manager also mentioned that there is leadership check-in happening on Friday, so there might be some strategy being done by this weekend. My manager is not happy on how this LR is being done since its taking too much time. Last time it was pretty quick where end of Thursday Director gave All-Clear signal and you can go on with your lives.

I’m pretty confident doing absolutely nothing until we get the all clear.

To satisfy the WARN Act requirements, 60 days notice must be given. 75% of costs are to be realized in Q1 which ends 10/26. So they do not have a lot of time...next Friday latest.

Cisco has not given us 60 days notice since the LR's of 2008 and 2011. And even then when they announced they were doing an LR and what the notification dates were, they still didn't give the individual employee 60 days notice that they personally were being terminated, just the company wide announcement.

The way Cisco meets the WARN 60 day requirement is that they notify the US employee that they're being terminated, that their last day is 30-ish days out, and that they'll receive the remainder of the 60 days notice as a lump sum on their last day "in lieu" of notice. The day they start those notifications is when they file the announcement w/ the CA employment commission or whatever it's called. They can wait until late Sept to meet the end of Q1 Oct date.

But I really expected notifications to start today. Now that I'm hearing that no one is being notified yet, it makes me a little more worried. I guess we'll find out in our BU's next AMA/Check-in or whatever the meeting is called next week.

Does anyone no longer have their flight information availability in the airline carriers app?

So maybe they don’t pay in lieu this time and instead lessen the package but double the headcount gone all while doing it slower to comply with WARN…

The comment from Post ID: @ctr+1u1Qla6I about WARN act and Q1 makes a lot of since. I think we'll be past the wait in a week or less.

Thanks for sharing. Everything points to decisions being made over the next 1 or 2 weeks. More time to brush up the ol' resume!

Hearing messaging in some of the leadership spaces that the notifications will be within one month. Guess GSX is safe.
