Time2Give and "Unlimited" PTO

Curious if anyone has heard about if T2G will be changed with the scam that is "unlimited" PTO coming to Cisco. Might be time to burn those days up while they're a separate category?

Floating holiday won't exist anymore. Not really any need for it.

Unlimited PTO will be a pro or a con depending on what team you’re working on and how much you’ll advocate for yourself. All the normal categories remain - CTO, Time to Give, Holidays (incl floating), shutdown, birthday, and Days for Me.

I’d be more concerned if they wiped the slate clean with no pay out (which there will be) and elimination of the other buckets (which they aren’t). Highly recommend everyone advocate for themselves and ensure they proactively block the time you want to take, clearly communicate, etc. There’s a financial space called “Chickonomics” that has a great tool for personally tracking your time if you’d find it helpful. Search “PTO burn” for the excel.

If you have scheduled pto not yet taken, and then get LRd.. do they need to pay you whatever accrued pto you have plus the scheduled pto not yet taken?

10 days sick leave, rollover caps at 20. Not paid out in the event you leave or you’re terminated.

Honestly I don’t care much unlimited PTO just means I’ll take more of it

Who announced this please? When/where? Thank you

Don't expect a payout of PTO that you haven't used. They'll likely just deduct your future time off from your PTO balance until it is gone, while not accumulating any new PTO as per the "unlimited" model. Works for them.

What happens with earned PTO? Will the company pay the employees for the current PTO?

Time2Give stays. Also end of calendar year shutdown (but no forcing of taking PTO since it will then be "unlimited"). I think there will also be 80 days of sick time that will be allowed -- but that doesn't accrue. So very much like PTO. Take a mental health day when needed and track against your sick leave.

Time to give or volunteer days off make Cisco look good. Be surprised if it’s scrapped. Remember we had 5 days then CR upped it to 10 days during covid? The real agenda around unlimited PTO is so they don’t have to pay out unused PTO you’ve accrued with severance and don’t have to keep the accrual of unused PTO as a liability on the P&L balance. That was the whole purpose of the July 4th week shut down in the US this year.
