Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wells Fargo does not give a sh*t about Veterans...

Despite all of the "Veteran" cheering and bullsht, WF does not give a sht about Veterans. All they care about is telling people that they like to hire Veterans.

Meanwhile, they do hire them and then they displace them at their disposal, including spouses of active duty service members (yes, there is a program for this).

"We are constantly trying to find veterans and they are given reasonable preference in hiring scenarios."

In my experience, they're given preference even if they have 0 relevant experience & are totally unprepared for the job. But I guess that's "reasonable"

@1jjq

There is a tax break. It's usually pretty obvious, cyber is full of them. Taking up space, collecting a paycheck. Kind of like you civil service jobs.

That's a nice wall of text considering no one has posted S about expecting vet handouts at WF or anyone else. Do you always fly off the handle and slay some straw men anytime someone says the word "vet"?

In any event, Hudson Yards clearly doesn't want any American workers, so take heart that vets will be getting downsized right along with you. Your real enemy is Hudson Yards, not vets or any other regular employee.

I get everyone has their views on vets and most support them (I do). But I’m not sure where the poster is going with classifying spouses of active duty vets as more special than the avg worker. Single income families may object to that as many others. Just curious.

And? Veteran here, so FKING what? The free IHOP breakfast once a year isn’t enough? Your 10% discounts dang near everywhere aren’t enough? All because you either did the equivalent of drove a Shartsucker truck around to all the port a John’s or got popped in an mrap by an ied?

Seriously, the mean distribution of degenerates in the military is astounding and exactly what experience makes us better to work anywhere in general vs a random from the general public. I’ll give you a hint, NOTHING. Same as all other protected classes. You’re just mad because you think being a Vet should make you immune to anything. Clearly one of the degenerates.

It's amazing how entitled and shameless ex military people are.

If we're supposed to believe that having spent time in the military makes you special, then why do you need your own form of affirmative action?

Hmm..it's almost like having spent time in the military is completely irrelevant to being the best match for a bank job!

Military complainers, you already get enough free stuff. Show us how truly special you are by not expecting even more free stuff.

One thing this layoff has taught me is that at Wells Fargo we are all replaceable.

Yeah, Wells is like the GOP of banks in how they actually treat vets after using them to rally nincompoops

First & foremost I thank you for your service. Unfortunately being in the military/veteran is just a checkbox like minority, disability, etc that puts you a step up on everyone else getting in the door. That said it’s not a safeguard for not being fired or laid off. If you’re not performing, caught in location strategy, or remote you’re not protected any more than the rest. You’re not being cut because you’re a veteran, you’re just a number on a layoff list like all of us. That’s corporate life.

Reasons why:

Good PR and

The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal hiring incentive that provides a tax credit worth up to $9,600 for hires that come from a variety of groups, including qualified military veterans.

The ability to function in horrible working environments, deal with huge amounts of stress, dedication to duty, an expectation of stupid S rolling down from on high, etc. are all useful skills at WF that a military person probably has. It's more applicable than you'd think, especially in our current environment.

Why?
What skills do they have that makes them rise above any other qualified applicant?

Are you a mo--n. WF doesn’t care about anyone. You a wining about veterans. What about the people who have dedicated years of service to this country only to be kicked to the curb due to location strategy. Get a grip and get over yourself.

Having experience exploding people and lifting crates in the desert somehow qualifies you to work at a bank? The ultimate DEI hires.

HR here. Feel free to downvote but in CSSB this is absolutely not true. We are constantly trying to find veterans and they are given reasonable preference in hiring scenarios.

Wells Fargo (and Corporate America in general) are well practiced in the art of saying what’s most politically convenient for cameras, interviews, and LinkedIn and social media cred. When it comes to actual execution, their overtures of societal wokeness are just window dressing. They are really all that horrible.
