Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Plenty of job openings

I've heard so many stories about how bad the job market is right now that I didn't expect to find anything when I went to check for myself over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to find many SE jobs available, some of them in companies I've been considering as a great alternative to Cisco for a while. My advice is not to listen to others and do your own research. The job market is not nearly as scary as everybody is making it out to be.

Marvel is hiring!!! Plenty of 30+ days jobs on their website. They don’t find candidates with the right skills maybe.

I've been to a couple of interviews that went well, I thought - no offer, though, and I'm convinced that they were just fishing for info, everything I showed was patented, though, good luck :D

Those "jobs" are not really jobs. I have made it to multiple interviews where they said, "this position isn't funded yet, but we expect it to be" and it never happens.

The majority of job postings you see out there are merely resume bait.

Not all those jobs are actually real. Cisco and others post them just to get resumes

I personally have gotten a lot of interviews but the competition is intense. It’s all supply and demand. Not just me but other folks who are out of job have said that as well. You really need a connection and tons of luck to crack a job in this market
