Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

In office requirements

Hi. I am interviewing for a position at BOA and am wondering how many days in office is required. It’s a corporate office position in CRE sector out of FL.
Thanks

@6ksz+1u7V6TE0 - yea, let's go back to the good ole 1900s. You can commute in your polluting horseless carriage!

Not.

OP, why are you looking for a job if you don’t want to be back in an office? Stop your whining and get with the pre- COVID world.

Going 5 days for CRE would wipe out the department as nearly 90% of what is needed to be done for a CRE deal, is easily handled remote. If you’re and RM sales person, then maybe yes. But all of the other aspects don’t need an office to be done. I would much rather be on the private equity side of CRE anyway. The industry is heading in that direction regardless due to over regulation. The best deals are going to done in the private equity / debt fund side after this mess blows over. Places like Bank of America and Wells Fargo won’t be prime lender picks anymore. Damage already done..

OP - save yourself from this place. The “pay for performance” pitch is a complete lie. They no longer do that, haven’t in many years. Push for the highest base comp you can get, because the bonus will not be there. Also know, over $150k and no raise for you. I know people here for at least a decade that have not seen any raise whatsoever and dwindling bonus despite increased production and profitably contribution. Bank of America is a horrible place to work, period. Sure some great people in the ranks, but it’s just the same old meat grinder of a place. If you do join, do so knowing you’ll want to use the experience to get to the next step elsewhere.

"If 5 days in January then it won't be over night. It would need to be announced months in advance."

You've clearly never seen my management team in action.

Anyway, those of you who have stated this is definitely happening...have any of your managers definitively gone on the record with that? Or is it all just kind of in the vein of "don't be surprised if it happens" or "there's support building for it" type of rumors?

It probably got removed because you posted something too specific, something that can be traced back to someone in particular.

Can you explain where you obtained the 5 day back in office perhaps more vaguely? Dont say "I had a meeting with Keanu Reeves and Jane Doe and John Doe and the CEO last year in December", that'll get deleted, easily traced and you'll be identified.

Something like "There's this very senior person who met with my team in the recent quarter where this topic was discussed" shouldnt get deleted.

I know I'm basically contradicting myself by asking you where you got the info from and then asking for it again but more vaguely, haha. But I'll trust.

My post asking where 5 days a week came from got removed somehow. Be very aware this forum has a bunch of either former disgruntled employees or people completely unaffiliated with BoA spreading misinformation.

Not knowing what role and band you’re applying for I can tell you a few things..
January there will be 5 days in office. No exceptions. Mandatory.
Pay, raises, compensation- Meh.
Medical is good.
Time off, standard I guess.
Please also know that with all of this there is a TON of micromanaging, jealousy, anger and distrust.
My best advice to you is negotiate, negotiate, negotiate - don’t settle. You’ll regret it later.

Take the job but continue looking elsewhere. This place is a very toxic shlithole.

If you love being the office, this is the place for you.

(if not, run!)

@vet+1u7V6TE0 is correct. Currently 3 for majority of roles. Am also hear 5 for everyone Jan 1.

(There are other roles/groups (e.g. traders) who are mandated 4 days in office per week and were onsite thru the entire pandemic.)

If you don't want to work in an office, this probably is not the company for you. (at least not long term. You can also take the job, get any sign on bonus you can negotiate, stay the required period and keep looking).
