Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Having a month until layoffs is not a bad thing

Use the following month to:
Update your resume and skills (there isn't much time for the latter, but you can at least start).
Start networking. It'll be easier to reach out to somebody regarding a possible job if you contacted them before just to catch up.
Keep a pulse on who is hiring and what is in demand.
Get your finances in order as much as you can.

If you go ahead and just set your expectations that you will, indeed, be LR’d — you can treat this like 30-60 days notice that you’re gone. Rip the bandaid off, and mentally prepare that you’ve already been fired.

"Waiting a month to know about if you’re laid off is like climbing Mount Everest and finding you alone half way through the climb."

Cisco conducts 2 or 3 layoffs a year. I'm not a psychic but expect more layoffs next year.

The additional month is a positive. Schedule doctors appointments, and focus on saving money.

What? You a preacher, turned into a technologist?

Waiting a month to know about if you’re laid off is like climbing Mount Everest and finding you alone half way through the climb.
