Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Location strategy talk?

In tech, non-core location.
There hasn’t been much mention of location strategy related layoffs lately, so are they done for 2024?

Fyi, take management words with a grain of salt. The layoff could come at any moment. In 2008 at a previous firm, my CEO went out of his way to say there would be no layoffs after a company purchase. Once the deal closed, he was out and so was I along with 15% of staff.

The answer is the same as it was in January 2024. All will be gone by December 2027. If you want exact dates they won’t tell us.

In tech and told Sept. next year my number would be up, so it sounds like a repeat of last year. 2 major waves of fake location strategy.

@1sbt is correct. Location-related displacements are done for the year (which also means that displacements overall will be minimal through year end.) However, they're tightening up the noose in the first half of next year. And 4/5 days in-office is being actively discussed (though no decisions have been made yet) as a mechanism to force these displacements

Does Risk have this in their plans? Seems they are late to the party

I think tech is done with location strategy for 2024. They have their headcount for year end.

Now they're focusing on medical exemption layoffs (much fewer).

My understanding is the same as @kjh+1uB0o27U. Wave 2 of the location strategy displacements is complete.

But do not be complacent. That doesn’t mean they won’t continue to lay off and use location as a reason. It only means the mass displacements for location are done for the year. Wave 3 is in Q1/2 of 2025.

I don’t want to be here any more but not bad enough that I don’t want to stick around and see just how this place looks if I make it through.

I know of location based layoffs that occurred the 17th but it was not tech. Each group has their own timing.

For tech, the next wave of location strategy layoffs will be early next year.
