Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Severance…

How does someone get offered severance at the bank? Is it two weeks of pay for every year worked, or is the package more generous?

@Spao+1uC38BoE - you won the Golden Ticket, congratulations!

This entire board just swooned with envy. (me included)

Happy to hear this worked out for you. All the best on your next chapter.

@zll+1uC38BoE - Correct. I was an employee for 23 years before getting laid off a few years ago. I was let go due to location. Not living in a core city, and I was not willing to relocate. My nearly 18 months of severance was glorious! I took another job 3 months after my layoff and never been happier. However I just gave notice that I am retiring for good on 12/31.

@zll+1uC38BoE - is correct.

But @OP+1uC38BoE - you have asked the million dollar question.

I have tried to get a layoff from this place for more than 25 years. Raised my hand every time I heard any whiff of layoffs since the late '90s. Only to have my manager say, "No, not you."

So basically, be a low performer, but not so low that you get fired and hope they need some serious expense savings quickly. They seem to do pretty well by just making people miserable and meet their quota without spending a dime.

Currently 2 weeks per year up to 20 years. 20 years 1 day 3 weeks per year. The max I believe is 18 months.
