Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

How do you say it?

Was told by management that I needed to say non-US persons instead of saying Indian employees or offshore employees. I didnt ask manager but was wondering what's the big deal with using those terms?

Lots of anti-Indian sentiment on here. Some of it may be justified, but remember that they didn't take our jobs -- corporations are handing our jobs to them.

Outside U.S. has less negative connotations than “non.”

I was asked refer them as "Chennai rep" and not "Indian reps". The look in my supervisor's face when I asked where Chennai was.. priceless.

“Non” anything is a terrible way to refer to any group - it’s “othering” at its finest. Imagine if someone told you to call anyone who wasn’t Caucasian “non white” or to call women “non men”

If this is a legit post, the manager in question is terrible.

I call them "non compliant with the location strategy". None of them are in my LOBs hubs.

OP here, for some of the responses below I found to be of very low IQ people. You know who you are.
To have any successful career at WF or any other corp wall street bank, you need to pick and choose your battles wisely. But I use my bain to think and not my nut sac nor the DEI spiked koolaid. You should try that sometimes, it does wonders for your career and salary. Decide which ones are worth your energy and job. I'm definitely not losing any sleep over any of this, especially the word salad in the post.

Well at least you are talking about them now. Before I got kicked out you couldn't talk about them. All I did was document the issues -- detailing the specifics both stateside and offshore.
Now I can say I warned them --as I see the bank go into the cosmic void.

Your manager is wrong and you need to correct your manager
or you are part of the problem Grow a set and stop being told how to speak. Using locations is not derogatory at all. WF is pushing global theory and country locations is acceptable. Listen to a global town hall and educate yourself to stand up for yourself. FFS! Inanimate objects are not a federally protected class like your boss is totally trying to imply smh your boss is a mo--n.

We are state side employees , they are offshore employees.... 1) this was exactly the terminology WF introduced to us years ago. 2) WF needs to back up the DEI train on this one! Pretty sure geographic locations for employees doesn't fall into this agenda. SMH lol

They won’t stop till every third worlder from India is working at the company, onshore too. They hire their friends, lie on resumes, backstab, and drive down American wages. By the way, if you’re from India, you’re not “American.” So stop this “I’m Indian-American” stuff. You’re legally a foreign national.
