Massive grade L layoffs / forced retirements coming?

Hearing something is in the wind... not sure why or who started it.

If one has a Agile Training certificate - costs you 500$ and 2 weeks of reading investment - you get hired as a L (SVP) with a 175-200k opening. We have an army like that in this new model that we are following especially in Engineering

And they are depending upon the K (VP) and J (AVP?) to guide them and hand hold them so that they can function. Yes they have no clue about the business.

On top of this MOST non-Agile technology folks hired are hired as M - individual contributors There are MDs who have no one reporting into them

This is an incredibly top-heavy organization

Before level L, RV needs to rationalize MD, SD & D levels. There are bunch of MDs reporting to another MD and then to another and another and then another MD. Makes no sense. So much for spans and layers, there are still more than 5 levels of MDs below EC in engineering - not counting SD & Ds. It is insane. Each of them is probably 400K+. This MD train should stop at level 3 max. Perhaps then they don't have to fire so many employees at lower levels.

What is the salary range for L's? Or what would be a mean salary for an L? Trying to figure out what "too expensive" is - $200k, or $75k.

Aah - there you go, The next LO fear mongering has begun.

Who is next asserting that they have seen the 'list'.
Who is next stating they they know this L that L and how the list was already submitted and finalized
Who is next to state the exact date / week when the LO will start

None of you have any real data or even close to one. Some one who is bored and does not have work , walks to Starbucks picks up his/her latte and then decides - Why don't I post this and see how many panic and start responding

Sure it is much more fun that sitting and twiddling

it's supposedly starting in November, but don't know if it's november into december, or also if they will announce them as retirements or simply cut them off at the legs. several of the 'l's also are managers of other staff, so not just L with out staff

I was an L who got laid off last year because I was too expensive.

Since when does this level require one to be a people manager? Plenty of SVP individual contributors, especially in tech.

How long before this company is made up entirely of BAH Managing Directors overseeing hordes of freshers with <2 yrs experience?

From what I have heard, L’s/SVP with no reports will be a target. Very high cost with little justification for the role. During the “great resignation” they were handing L’s out like candy to get talent in the door. Hopefully it isn’t true, but if expense cutting is the game, it’s definitely there.

@gyl+1uDr45UT That’s already even done in the US at least in the groups I work with. Everyone grade H and below was let get go in the last few years and grade H was finalized this year and all moved offshore to India. Only a matter of time before grade I is next! It’s amazing how in political debates they never talk about all this outsourcing big banks are doing especially when we the US tax payers had to bail them all out not to long ago. If it happens again they need to just fail.

100% truth. They are rolling out a whole new low brow drive through window approach. Instead of ‘you want mo’ fries wit dat?’, it will be ‘uhhhhhh fill out a portal request and uhhhhh we will get back to you or somethin..’. These people do not need decent pay, benefits or company matches. Just free coffee and happy shiny emails from Emily.

There’s so many L that don’t manage anyone or have a big enough portfolio of work that this shouldn’t be surprising

Layoffs and demotions (of officer titles) have been going on all year and have already been massive. Knowledge and experience are non longer positive attributes at this company!

I've heard this too and can see it happening. First they detitled a bunch of MD's to senior directors, then they went after directors to RIF, now SVPs. It's all part of Robin's plan to save money by cutting experienced talent (i.e save money), and make way for the recent grads that they've quadrupled since 2 years ago. They're shifting to an entirely new lower-paid, off-shored workforce.

They should start with G and below. Nothing but sh---y employees at the lower levels who do nothing but call out and dont want to work

I heard that was a RV initiative.

Hmmm they should start with level M. They'd save more money.
